Guest Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Yesterday evening I spent a bunch of hours trying to get some privacy upstairs in the King's Palace of Windhelm. And then searching on the Internet on this matter. Although each one of the rooms located there has it's own massive door, and each one door can be closed and locked with a help of console, I couldn't prevent the Guard from breaking into the room where I decided to get along with my ally (and lover). The Guard's navmesh appeared to be way stronger then all those cast iron doors. Moreover, in case the door was locked that guy could not leave the room once he intruded into. Seriously, beeng under that surcumstances did not make me laugh at all. Would be nice to hear somebody who solved this problem once and for good. The problem of privacy in taverns, living quarters, and so on.
Naetholix Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 Just a guess off the top of my head but: Could you not use the console to a ) disable the AI of individual characters in the cell or b ) remove them entirely? Being a guard, they are somewhat disposable. I don't see a problem in simply removing the character altogether and going about your business.
Guest Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 Do you find it immersive? I do not. The one thing is to lock the door - even if you use console, the other - to use TAI on NPC. Brrr Knowing somebody keeps walking along the corridor to and fro while you are doing "your business" behind the locked door would really turn me on. It would be damn hot If the guard were knocking the door, but could not enter. I wonder why don't we have a mod which allows us such "games with doors"... Besides, try to be alone when rent a room in e.g. Sleeping Giant Inn. Hjoromir or Gorr, or Delphine would break into your room inevitably. It's no fair. Doors and locks in Tamriel should work the way doors and locks do in our real life.

If you want to be a Jarl, you have to learn to think like one. On the other hand, if your plan is to pork the Jarl's wide while he isn't about, maybe the guards should attack...
Guest Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 I don't know what "to pork the Jarl's wide" means, but you - with all your sense of humor, which I highly appreciate - sound like you are a Jarl (or Someone else), for only a Jarl (or Someone else) would order me how should I think. If you are eager to become a Jarl to have an opportunity to get fucked in front of servants, cuz you think Cosi fan tutti Jarli, well it's your choice. Besides, I'm not sure we really know everything about Jarls, their preferences, their obligations and privileges, about their private life at last.

OK so write a circle of protection spell that works on guards. Any guard who comes within its range turns round. Alternatively, have the guards freeze while you are doing your business. A way you could do it would be to lock the door with a spell rather than a key. When the spell is cast on a qualified lock, all NPCs that are outside the room cease their activities until the door is opened. Of course it would then be up to you to make sure that it could only be cast on locks in rooms that don't have another exit. As for porking the Jarl's wide, that was a typo, I meant wife. It is a British expression for fuck.
Guest Posted December 29, 2016 Posted December 29, 2016 Elder Scrolls Wiki: "Circle of Protection creates a magical protective circle around the caster. undead up to level 20 entering the circle flee." Undead. Does it affect on other races? That might be interesting. Brits prefer pork?
darkconsole Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 at best a hazard object could be dropped to try and warn npcs to stay away from a certain point for a certain radius, but even that most likely is probably going to end poorly "huh i was attacked wut wut ima fight that guy" - i don't think there is a really good way to block an npcs access to a place given that their package schedules are autonomous (and even includes a checkbox, unlock doors)
