I had a bunch of mods on my skyrim a long time ago but I deleted everything to do with skyrim and all mods I had, so now I have reinstalled skyrim and i'm ready to get some mods on it again. I already picked up LOOT, wyre bash, and nexus mod manager. Ive starting picking out a bunch of mods from loverslab and a few from nexus to use.

 

My question is there anything I should know going into modding any precautions I need to take?

 

I mean I know the obvious ones like sort load order with LOOT, make sure nothing is missing masters on wyre bash, and I am getting all the required mods that certain mods ask for. Is there anything else that will make my modding life easier?

I would select MO over NMM to make my modding life easier, personal preference anyway.

The most problems I had was with learning how to use FNIS correctly. But if you already know that then you're good.

 

Also (like TnTTnT above) I use Mod Organizer rather than Nexus Mod Manager because it separates modules and allows to add/remove them without affecting others.

 

The other tools I use are "Skyrim Save Manager" to manage multiple characters and "Save Cleaner" when things go too bad with gamesaves. The mod called "Crash fixes" on Nexus seems to help too.

 

Lastly I assume you are using Skyrim vanilla (with DLCs) and NOT the new Skyrim Special Edition.

Alright ill try using mod organizer, the only reason I originally went with NMM is because it seemed more user friendly but ill give MO a shot. Thanks for the help!

Make sure to follow the tutorials how to setup FNIS, TES5edit, bodyslide etc in MO, there are pretty good tutorials on youtube and it's not really complicated, but there are some mistakes you can do with MO. Once that's done, it will be as easy as NMM.
