ntwackme48 Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 So I am currently on windows 8.1 and am aware of the dx 9 limitation that windows 8.1 introduces with vram. I currently have a 980 TI and run almost 2K textures in everything in skyrim with the exception of small items. Given that it will probably take a few months for mods to get updated to the new skyrim special edition, do you think I should downgrade to windows 8 so that I can take full advantage of my graphics card? Right now the game runs pretty stable but it does have the occassionally CTD. Using performance monitor my VRAM goes between 3.8 to 4.2 GB on normal usage. Thanks
gregathit Posted October 13, 2016 Posted October 13, 2016 Windows 8, 8.1 and 10 all have this issue. The only way around it is to go back to windows 7. As to "should you"..............? No. Waste of time.
