Afro68 Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 I'm getting back into modding my skyrim and mod organizer. Following a tutorial and I saw the person using the tutorial installs Safety Load. In doing so I get files in my overwrite and don't know what to do with them and in trying to research I read the skse was updated and safety load was no longer needed. Can someone let me know which is the correct way to go and I'm modding from ground zero.
DurtyNelly Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Nope, you don't need it. SKSE memory patch made it obsolete.

RebelInfernal Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 You are correct, I'm pretty sure Safety Load is now obsolete, you probably saw it installed because I think that most tutorial videos for MO are a tad outdated now. I personally use Stable uGridsToLoad and ENBoost for performance, plus one or two mods like Insignificant Object Remover just to give me that extra little boost. I know SuGTL says you should use it with Safety Load to avoid infinite loading screen but I don't and have had no problems whatsoever. If you're curious or confused Gopher has some really good youtube videos on it all, that's actually where I found SuGTL. Also, a word of advice: some people say that Mod Organizer isn't worth it because it's so difficult or doesn't work properly with everything. In my opinion that is vastly untrue, I started modding with MO and it's made it so much easier, and in three years I've encountered just one mod that I couldn't get to work with MO, and that was one that was hit-and-miss with NMM too. Just stick with it!

Just stick with it! Thanks, my original install was with NMM after trying MO a few times but since my mobo crapped out and I had to start over I'm going to try and hunker down and do MO again. It's a clean install and I wasn't really attached to any game saves so I'm fine.

I won't lie, I have struggled, but now that I'm playing rather than fiddling with File Explorer it's completely worth it. Saved me quite a few reinstalls of Skyrim, which with my download speed is truly something to fear

Just stick with it! STEP has recommended not to use Stable UGrids to Load anymore. I took it out a while back. It has to do with the mod having an unfixed memory leak and causing corruption whether you change uGrids or not. There is a LINK to the beginning of where they discussed the issue. This discovery came about well after Gopher stopped playing Skyrim, so that is probably why he hasn't updated the video (or may not know about the issue). I started with MO too and agree with you 100%. I love it. I've never had issues with it, not yet anyway.

As I understand it this won't cause my game to melt down at least? Or should I just give up now and restart without it? Either way, thanks for the heads up, at least I know for the next game because quite frankly I've started so many new games lately I just don't have the stomach to restart again unless I really ought to, even if it is just up to level 10 I'd lose.
