HELP Companion Skin and Body

Hello, I would like to know how to change the body of my followers. I am currently using a HDT body with my custom bodyslide preset, I moved my character body meshes and textures into the companions folder (who didn't have HDT) which gave my body to my followers (who now have HDT). This sounds all fine and dandy, except that the skin textures between the body and head are vastly different which is very noticeable, is there any way to change my followers body and add HDT without changing the skin texture? (I am using Fair skin Complexion) When I was copying my body files over I read that you have to move 4 different files for the body, is one of them the skin texture? If so, can I copy the other files and ignore that specific one while still giving the followers my body?

For the 1st question, you can do that.

For the 2nd and 3rd question, yes. You need to have 12 textures files with the .dds extension for the meshes (4 for the head, 4 for the body and 4 for the hands).

The name of the files are:

-femalehead.dds, femalehead_msn.dds, femalehead_s.dds and femalehead_sk.dds

-femalebody_1.dds, femalebody_1_msn.dss, femalebody_1_s.dds and femalebody_1_sk.dds

-femalehands_1.dds, femalehands_1_msn.dss, femalehands_1_s.dds and femalehands_1_sk.dds

Copy all the files named above from your character folder to your custom follower folder to avoid texture mismatches.

Do the same thing for the body, the head and the hand meshes(the name are the same but with a .nif extension) ;)

Which file do i ignore to keep the original skin texture of the follower? Is it femalebody_1_sk.dds? The face textures wont change the structure/looks of the face right? Is it only there for compatibility?

No, you can keep all the files except the diffuse maps from your follower folder (femalebody_1.dds, femalehead.dds, femalehands_1.dds).

Yes, it change only the look of the face, not the structure.

Yes.

Okay thanks for the help man!

;)

Sorry for bring up the subject again, which are the exact files that I have to move into my followers folder? I was looking in my characters mesh folder and i could not find "femalehead.dds" in the mesh folder. I do have to copy all 6 .dds files from BOTH the character textures and meshes right?

Only the diffuse maps.

The femalehead.dds is not on the meshes folder but in the textures folder; the meshes folder has only .nif files.

Nope, copy only on textures folder.

The meshes or textures folder for the follower is like this:

-Data/meshes or textures/actors/character/YourFollowerName/

Sorry to bother you again, I thought that the meshes were the files that edited the body type (proportions) not the textures. If the meshes are used, could you please tell me the exact files in the correct folder that the player character uses? If that is not the case, I should ignore the meshes and just use the 3 player character texture files (femalebody_1.dds, femalehands_1.dds, and femalehead_1.dds) to replace the follower ones right? When I replace these files it will give my followers the player character body, with HDT breast physics, while retaining the original followers skin color?

I went ahead and replaced the 3 body meshes and the skin textures, and I am pleased to say that it worked! However there is a problem with 3 followers skin textures, they have 2 nipples on each breast, I cannot find the cause of this problem and I would greatly appreciate any help. Only half of the followers have double nipples, while the rest are normal.

I have another question, if I just want to change the followers body type, why can't i just change the meshes and not change the textures? Are the textures with .dds needed at all when trying to just change the body shape? What exactly does the .dds texture files do anyway?

What exactly does the .dds texture files do anyway?

it waste a lot of ram because nobody made a race.esm, that all followers would have for master, to load nakedskinunp, nakedskinsam, nakedskincbbeglossy, nakedskinfairskin...

What I was asking is what part of the skin texture does the .dds file change? Also, if I just want to change just the follower body shape, can I safely ignore the .dds textures and just edit the mesh files?
