Gameplayer Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Well now all of sudden, I have 20FPS in Skyrim...Doesn't matter if I turn off my ENB either, 20 FPS no matter what....Actually its more like 19-23FPS but >?< So I thought well I also installed FO4, so I load that up....60FPS solid. Also I ran malware bytes just in case well before jumping into F04. Got a bad feeling that I will have to start my whole mod installation for Skyrim from scratch. Grumble Grumble Grumble gripe. Its been a bad day of OS update failures and reinstallation marathons. It would seem that something is corrupt in my Skyrim port over to the new installation as some textures outright fail to load even though the files are in fact there and well that FPS number OUCH >< The only good take away here is.... I rolled back to Win7 And Fo4 is at a high FPS so I think I ruled out hardware problem causing low fps.
cweez Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Just clutching at straws here, I know skyrim stores some registry entries which is why you usually need to launch skyrim once through the regular launcher before using things like FNIS. I always thought this was just due to registry entries created by launching the game that just said where the game's location was, but maybe there's some other info in there as well? In which case, verifying the game through steam and launching it through the game's launcher should recreate these files (You'll have to use TES5Edit on the esp's again afterwards as it will recreate the original versions of these). Alternatively, it could also be an issue with your graphics drivers? Again, somewhat unlikely since FO4 is running fine, but it's easier to reinstall these than skyrim + mods. So uninstall your drivers, reboot, install the latest ones, reboot and try again.
