Wolborg Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 There are NPCs of both sexes in my game who go about their daily business stark naked. I know that some of them (such as a number of guards) simply failed to acquire new clothes after I had robbed them of their belongings (Defeat), but there are NPCs who were naked the first time I saw them. I am not talking about nude baths here. I'm talking about them walking on city streets with nothing on apart from a bladed weapon magically attached to their hip, and I have never seen them wear any clothes. I wonder if there is a way to find out the cause of an NPC's failing to get (re)dressed. Can an NPC's dressing behavior be seen with TES5Edit or Creation Kit or something? Or is there a console command to force them to wear clothes? I don't even really mind having to click on the NPCs one by one and getting them dressed, as long as they remember it so I won't have to do it again every time I meet them.
jwideman Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Educated guess here: you have conflicting armor mods with leveled lists and need to make a bashed patch. http://wiki.step-project.com/Bashed_Patch
Wolborg Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 need to make a bashed patch. Thank you very much for the tip. After I have made a bashed patch, do I need to re-run FNIS before executing Skyrim?
Musje Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Were the naked NPCs of the same type (guard, bandit) as the ones you robbed with Defeat? In some cases, modifying the outfit of a single NPC of a certain type can affect other NPCs of that type when they spawn.
jwideman Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 need to make a bashed patch. Thank you very much for the tip. After I have made a bashed patch, do I need to re-run FNIS before executing Skyrim? No. All the bashed patch does is go through the leveled lists in all your plugins and combine them. Otherwise, only the leveled list from the last plugin is used in case of conflict. If you don't have two or more mods that edit the same lists, it's not a problem. But it never hurts and when npcs are missing items they should have, a list conflict could be the culprit.
Hypnotik Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I have had the same issue for some npcs (not many), even if I maintain a bashed patch (maybe I do it wrong somehow). If you want to fix it in game for a specific npc, you can open the console, click on the naked npc and type "resetInventory".
Wolborg Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 If you want to fix it in game for a specific npc, you can open the console, click on the naked npc and type "resetInventory". Clicked on a naked NPC. Typed resetinventory Exited and re-entered the cell. Still naked. No clothes in the inventory. Clicked on her. Typed additem f1229 1 Typed equipitem f1229 Still naked. In the inventory there is an item named "Clothes". The command "inv" shows that it has a bad id. Exited and reentered cell. Still naked. Clicked on her. Typed disable, then typed enable. Still naked. Tried the same with another NPC in another cell. Same results: stays naked, won't equip clothes which are in the inventory. Neither could I get them dressed with kill + resurrect. The command recycleactor moved them to their original location but still without clothes. The above was my last save. Now comes something weird. I reloaded an old save made before I had gone to Solitude for the first time. This time when I went to Solitude, Fironet who had always been naked was wearing clothes. Then I did that bashed patch thing. No change. Resetinventory still won't add clothes. When I add clothes with additem, the command equipitem won't get them equipped.
Wolborg Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 Were the naked NPCs of the same type (guard, bandit) as the ones you robbed with Defeat? Firstly, I stripped a number of town guards. Some of them regained their clothes, some didn't. Secondly, a small percentage of women remained naked after sex, but when I went away and returned some time later, they were dressed again. Thirdly, there is a little hunter camp north of Darkwater Crossing whose inhabitants were always naked. Fourthly, there was a small number of women who were naked the first time I saw them. One of them was Fironet, an INPC character in Solitude. At this moment I can't recall the others, but they were very few. That is how it worked for 300+ game hours, during which time I didn't make any changes to my mod configuration. Then I added Undress for Bed. It worked fine. Then I installed FemFeet. After 12 game hours I realized I didn't want FemFeet and disabled it. Some time after that I began to notice women being naked when they weren't supposed to. About 6 game hours later I decided I had to do something about it. I also decided to disable Undress for Bed as well. I haven't played since, only loaded savegames for testing purposes. It is probable that Realistic Body System remade is the culprit one way or another. But I won't give that up. Anyway, I am ready to do some experimenting. Should I break this game and have to start a new one, it won't be a disaster. Which brings me back to my original question: Are there tools for finding out what is preventing an NPC from putting on clothes?
Wolborg Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 I switched to the profile I had saved before getting rid of those two mods I mentioned. I reloaded my last save. The women were naked. They had boots or shoes in their inventories, with bad ID's. Resetinventory added clothes to their inventories, also with bad ID's, but they didn't put them on. However, clothes and boots/shoes could be put on with equipitem. When I exited the cell and reentered, they were still wearing those items. Note that when I put shoes on them with equipitem and then typed resetinventory, they took the shoes off and gained clothes into their inventory. Both clothes and shoes could then be equipped with the command equipitem. Then I switched to the profile with which I had started the current game. Everything was exactly the same: naked, boots in inventory but no clothes, equipitem equips boots, resetinventory strips boots and adds clothes to the inventory, both with bad ID's (which, as I understand, means that they are supposed to be equipped by default).
Wolborg Posted September 13, 2016 Author Posted September 13, 2016 I was able to recover some old Papyrus logs. I can't get any wiser from them. If my records are correct then: Papyrus.2.log is from the time when I had neither Undress for Bed nor FemFeet installed. Papyrus.1.log is from the time when I had Undress for Bed installed but not FemFeet. Papyrus.0.log is from the time when I had FemFeet already disabled but Undress for Bed was still active. This is all I have. loadandlog.zip
Musje Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I use RBS as well (awesome mod) and I haven't run into this issue with NPCs being naked from the get-go. I only got the "naked bandit bug" related to PAHE
