xenic Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Hi, thanks for stopping in. I've been trying to mod power armor but I have hit a brick wall. I looked around and realized that there is not a lot of information out there on the subject. Hopefully we can come together, share what we know, brainstorm, and see what we can do. I encourage anyone who knows anything to post, share nifs, textures, advice, and anything that will help. I tried using Reinhardt from Overwatch (pretty much intend this for personal use and to learn.) http://www.mediafire.com/download/p3m23e029t5gt5e/Reinhardt_v1.nif If someone could show and tell me how to edit this nif to work with Fallout 4, I'd appreciate it. Then I can get back to playing with this. Now, I think we have to alter the PowerArmorFurniture.nif Here is the original file from the BSA: http://www.mediafire.com/download/py42a620rzqv99l/PowerArmorFurniture.nif My understanding is this, please correct me if I'm wrong. When you enter power armor, you are entering [PowerArmorFurniture.nif], the Power Armor Frame is what you run around in. So do I need to alter the furniture and frame?
Vioxsis Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 The power armour frames are found in "Meshes\Actors\PowerArmor\CharacterAssets" along with all the other power armour stuff. And yes its frames with an S, there are quite a few, all changing the under armour when certain under armour is equipped to match, though they are not separate in game, and raider (leathers) is default when there is no match. The "PowerArmorFurniture" is most likely just Furniture for decoration.

From what I can tell and from the CK documentation, the PowerArmorFurniture is what you see standing there before you put it on.
Vioxsis Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 Downloading and looking at the PowerArmorFurniture.nif you can see it has an animation embedded in it that looks like the enter animation. It must them, once you've entered, switch to one of the frames in the Meshes\Actors\PowerArmor\CharacterAssets folder. Wonder why they kept it out of the folder with all the other power armour stuff in it.
Guest Posted August 21, 2016 Posted August 21, 2016 ... Wonder why they kept it out of the folder with all the other power armour stuff in it. My guess: because they put it there the first time, and then they didn't want to spend tons of time to update all the paths in the ESMs.
Dr Bob Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 The static model is a separate entity from the actual running around biffing things with metal fists thing. fun fact: as the static is furniture, you can use it to place things in the workshop menu, like lights and so-on, if you are having issues with building something interesting and it wont stick to a surface.
