The Dovakiin & The Main Quest Line

I'm just starting a small discussion about a particular aspect of the 'Dovakiin' thats abit ... weird to me, so here we go - this wont be long winded.

First:

Your the 'Dovakiin' the Dragonborn - just as the name 'Dragonborn' suggests in various manners, you are technically a DRAGON born into a mortal shell, and infact that has been hinted at and stated various times in Skyrim. What gets me is the fact that, no one will show a single INKLING of fear, your soul, your very existence is interlaced, you ARE a dragon in all rights, the soul of a dragon sent to the mortal realms in the shell of a mortal. So ... why is it that, NO one will fear you whatsoever in that sense? it confuses me a tad bit, as these 'dragons' are supposed to be the terrors of the world, the Harbingers of the end times and so forth, and be it in a vanilla game they are WEAK as crap, and thankfully mods exist to actually make the dragons a HELLISH challenge, where as you wont survive by running upto it and clonking it on the head. But where is the primordial fear?

Second:

Again WHERE IS THE FEAR from others? say you've slain dozens of dragons by now, single handedly in an epic battle of wits and courage, shouting the beast down from the very skies itself? ... do you really think the average hold guard would even DARE fuck with you? because apparently they ALL know YOUR the Dovakiin, and ALL know that YOU have been killing dragons ... so when they make comments such as "DRAGON, RUN!!" and such, you start to think ... so if I hit you, your just gunna threaten me, say I'm weak, knowing I'm the Dovakiin, the dragonborn - the supreme dragon slaying weapon, whom has slain dozens of dragons single handed? Its weird to me, if a bunch of bandits who ran from a dragon attack, and WATCHED you single handedly fuck that dragon up? I really doubt they'd go "OH HAI YEW KILLEDED DA DWAGON, NOWZ I'Z GUNNA KEEL YEW CUZ YA KNOW I CANZ TOTALLAI DO DAT!" ... dont you think they'd be scared fucking shitless?

Third:

Aludin and the Dovakiin.

Right ... so when you've done your stuff, killed those flying lizards, slaughtered entire armies, hell even got your own dragon now, that'll fuck shit up with you, and you've defeated Alduin, Oorah! but ... wait a minute, you went to sovngarde, and really considering how crap the AI are, single handedly fought Alduin, the world eater, the bringer of the end times! the destroyer of worlds! you think, fuck yea, I'm THE shit man! THE SHIT! dont fuck with me! ... or SO you think, but apparently no ... no, nothing changes ... they ALL know you apparently defeated Aludin, killed the big ass black dragon that was all powerful an technically a 'GOD' being a direct child of a GOD. And yet, somehow bandits, generally everyone thinks they'd stand a chance again you, the slayer of Aludin, the Dovakiin - the slayer of the dragons! the being whom stepped foot within the fabled Sovngarde, and spoke with heroes of every magnitude! ... but no, the Bandits, hold guards, soldiers and so forth seem to run along the lines of "I CANZ KEEL YEW EVENZ IF YEW SINGLE HANDEDEDEDLEH KILLEDEDS DA WORLDS EATER!"

Just amuses me really, you'd think as soon as you'd take a single step towards a bandit, they'd literally shit themselves and otherwise leg it. Or if you accidently hit a hold guard while fighting, pretty much dwindling him down to 10hp, the other guards wouldn't attack but be particularly cautious of you.

More so considering what the crap you can do with your shouts, slow down time, yup - slowed tyme downz an yew dead bish.

But anyway thats the end of my rant, its just something thats amusing to me really.

^^ Spoiler alert.

I understand where you're coming from, but how else could you do it? Every enemy runs away from you after you complete the main quest line? That would get kinda boring, and the bandits living in their cave in the mountains probably have no idea who you are anyway.

Perhaps after you've slain 5 of their friends right in front of them and are still near full health the few remaining should run away. That probably wouldn't be too difficult to do mod wise...

I myself play a mage on the hardest difficulty setting and most bandits can 1 hit me so they have no reason to run away anyway. It's usually me doing the running!

It's because crap like that happens all the time on Nirn. Heroes and near-immortal death gods are a dime a dozen - just read all of the in-game books. Some jackwagon with a dragon soul isn't even going to turn heads.

And as we learned in Oblivion, where saving the world earned oneself a suit of armor and a statue, the people of Nirn are unappreciative assholes.

Oorah??? lol simmer down devil dog. Its kinda like all RPG's really. You are on a mission to save the world, fight the last boss... and yet they still charge you for potions to heal yourself that you will use in the final boss battle. Reactions... ehhh I could make up some BS answer about how they are trying to put on a tough guy act to not show fear or the like... but really its the game designers not wanting to mess write alot of before and after scripts of your level of completion of the game. Even Oblivion had that where you saved the world from meh runes dhagon (spelling I know) the big demon guy.... and you hit a guard or steal a apple and they pretty much will still take you to jail... as opposed to you saved the world here you can have the apple. The bribe, flatter and boast thing was great though for oblivion.

But after beating the main quest... it may be alittle boring to not have people try to jump you every so often... after all, they are probably thinking... what are the chances of this guy walking up the road who I want to rob being the Dragon Born hero of heroes.... kinda funny if I think about it... almost like an anime or something... Think the Anime Slayers... when bandits try to rob Lina Inverse.

People in the towns ought not to be afraid of the dragon born but ought to admire more, or give stuff for free or like DAFUCK ITS DRAGON BORN I LUUUV YOU. something like that

Welcome to skyrim, a game as vast as an ocean yet as shallow as a puddle. Bethesda focused on adding more pointless filler rather than giving people and companions actual emotions, which is where skyrim ultimately fails.

Hey Mad God I've got 2 questions for you.

1) Can I use this quote as my sig?

Welcome to skyrim, a game as vast as an ocean yet as shallow as a puddle.

2) Are you the same Mad God who made the Great House Dagoth mod for Morrowind?

If so, that was one of my favorite mods of all time.

Btw I enjoy Skyrim as an action game not an rpg.

Let's be honest. The last bunch of CRPG's that had depth and was vast as an ocean was released over a decade ago, and anytime a company does such. The CoD kiddies start to whine and cry because there's too much dialog. If anything, if you want to know what's really ruined gaming and depth of gaming it's consoles and the "mass market appeal" that developers now push.

Well there have been a few gems released in the last 5 or 6 years. Like Dragon Age Origins and Fallout: New Vegas.

But I agree, consoles is what's ruined gaming; also pirating has ruined pc gaming.

1) Sure thing. I don't mind.

2) No, I never made that mod. In fact I haven't really made a mod ever! But I know about the mod you are talking about, and I really enjoyed it as well.

I agree for the most part. I don't like what console gaming is doing to the gaming industry and it sure as hell is slowing it down. It's a shame then that the damn internet pirates had to push developers away from PCs and onto consoles since PC games are far superior to anything on consoles.

Console exclusive RPGs such as Demon/Dark Souls, and Dragons Dogma show that good Console exclusive RPGs can exist and be made, however they both lack "depth" in story and such (even though they were great games).

Are developers such as Bethesda trying to appeal to the console audience? Absolutely. Sadly I don't think there is anything we can do short of changing the "mass market appeal" towards games with more depth instead of games with blind action. Oh well.

Actually I would say that the problems goes deeper than simply "Everything is the consoles' fault!"(At least if we're talking about depth in rpgs, as I'd like to imagine there were plenty of depth in games for the Nintendo 64, SNES or even the NES). And I know for a fact that not every person that owns a console is a "COD kid" by default.

The fact of the matter is that because most companies are money-grabbing whores, they try to focus on the whole gaming audience, instead of simply one(Namely in this case, the RPG geeks).

Dragon Age Origins and NV were good, but two games in 5-6 years is pretty thin materials especially when you can count the number of games we had back in the 90's and early 2000's that had to succeed or fly based on the material in the game, not on the *oooh shiny* effects.

The pirating effect is also overblown, that one has been covered rather extensively. There is pirating without a doubt, and has been for decades. But considering that the industry has been doing nothing but growing for the last 35 years and increasing their value should tell you something. Well at least until the last two to three years when the world economy took a dump. Then the gems that roll out really do show, and they make money hand over fist anyway.

I agree for the most part. I don't like what console gaming is doing to the gaming industry and it sure as hell is slowing it down. ...

Just remember, there's no pirating on consoles. That's why they develop on consoles. That's what they keep telling themselves....
