Mailamea Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Recently made an entire copy of New Vegas/Fallout 3 explosive knockdown move, added proper calculation and knockdown requirements for all the explosive data in the game and proper one depending on explosion. Only to find out that the player character when knockdown is broken. They turned it into skyrim's knockdown system where in the camera will be fixed and be looking on the ground instead of your character. When enhanced camera releases for fallout 4 i think we wouldn't be able to get the 1st person knockdown epicness of fallout 3 and nv it works wonders for other npc, they finally feel like human and get knocked down by force and the bigger creatures just get staggerd. Really disappointed how they made the Player Character immune to knockdown in vanilla just so they can hide that it is completely broken when the player character is the one being knocked down. I am open for any solutions on how to fix this.
Ark of Truth Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 I'm confused......is this meant to be about Skyrim or Fallout 4?

Mailamea Posted August 12, 2016 Author Posted August 12, 2016 WTF I swear i put this up on fallout 4 general discussion thread. That is weird O_O . Can someone move this to the proper thread section. Thank you
Mailamea Posted August 13, 2016 Author Posted August 13, 2016 Anybody found a solution for this? Judging that this isn't fixed in skyrim seems like it wont be for fallout.
Goubo Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Yeah they fucked up big time on this one, I messed with this some time ago, the camera seems to not be bugged on knockdown if the player is empty handed BUT they also need to sheath so you have to disable the combat and make the script wait for 0.5 - 1.0 second before the knockdown... so not an ideal solution. There is also a function to put the camera on something else than the player (SetCameraTarget) when they are knockdown (like on the enemy that knockdowned you), I did not test this a lot but it seems buggy as hell depending on where the knockdown happens. I really wish they would fix this but it's unlikely unfortunately.
Ark of Truth Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 Immesion never has been Bethesda's strong point. In fact it is most likely there biggest weakness. For me I have always wondered where the player puts their stuff when they have no backpack in vanilla. Immersion does't seem to be very popular even though in some cases it makes the game way more differcult. I did some research into the camera and found the same as Goubo. From the looks of it they didn't even bother fixing it. Most likely because they thought people wouldn't really miss it from the game.

I just read this today, wow at least thats alot better compared to what we have, So far skyrim hasn't have a proper knockdown even until now, so yeah were screwed from fo4 point of view. Im not a fan of the revive companion animation, kinda unimersive that your companion or team is down their catching their breath and enemies just ignore them i wish someone can make a knockdown companion when they get to zero health. I tried this with the paralyze effect but they go down like a stiff wood lol.

I tried this with the paralyze effect but they go down like a stiff wood lol. I fell your pain, I wish that they knocked the companion unconoius like they did in New Vegas. At least there would be a valid reason for them to ignore the companion. Immersion never has been a thing within vanilla Fallout 4. In fact some features from prevoius games were just removed entirely or never added. So you want a companion which can actually die? Sorry but it can't be done normally and you can blame Bethesda for that one as all companions are hard scripted not to die even if the essential tag is removed. I did however find out that death lines were recorded and placed within the game but never used. Most likely because Bethesda changed their mind about companion deaths. If you think about it there are key places in the story line where each companion plays an important part allowing for more then one way of finishing a mission. Piper, Dogmeat, Nick and Danse. Dogmeat is needed to track Kellog, Piper for information on more then one main thing but mainly the institute. Nick for finding out about Kellog and Danse to gain access to the Brotherhood of Steel ending. The only time a companion can die is when there is an event for it. For example when the player is given the option to kill Danse. I believe in this video it explains why they did it so companions cannot die. It's to do with reload scenerio. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uonUCBk70JA
