Photonix Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Since a lot of the great mods on this site get updated often, I found myself always starting a new game to install them just to be safe. But it is getting a bit tedious as of late having to start again and go through all the mods in game to tweak the settings as I'd like. So I decided to look into getting a save game cleaner, I know always starting a new game is the safest way to play with new mods and not having to worry about things breaking. Now I understand some mods actually don't work too well with Save game cleaners and it can break them? I was wondering if anyone encountered this so I can have something to look out for when using one. I downloaded Save Cleaner Mod for the lolz ran it on my current what I thought was a clean save game and 499 orphan script instances were found!
Guest Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 I just don't see the point to use a Save Game cleaner. Is indeed true that you need to be safe while updating mods, but do you actually need to be always updated? Almost all mod authors warns users about their mod requirements (and even if you need to do something weird, in order to update the mod without any risk). I've never got your problem anyway, just sharing my point of view. Does your game works fine?
prinyo Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 My longest save is about 550 hours of play and has been salvaged multiple times by Save cleaner. Sometimes it is really helpful.

I never actually had an issue with updating mid play cause most of the time some mods are only slightly changed, but the changes are always much needed bug fixes. But with new crazy good mods like Osex, with it still under development and changing quite often I've read a lot of people having issues when upgrading. And 99% of mod authors usually recommend using a save game cleaner when upgrading their mods too.
