moddinggamer6646 Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 i am thinking about upgrading my graphics card to get rid of a random flickering screen flashing problem it has that i cannot find a solution for my current rig windows 10 intel core i7 quad core i7-4770 3.4 AMD radeon hd7950 3GB 16 GB ram corsair 550w vs series power supply planning mainly to play fallout 4 at 1920x1080 with a lot of mods at good fps my current setup handles it quite well though as i said the flickering problem is mostly why i am wanting to replace it budget is £200 to £250 what card should i get ? amd or nvida ? and what online shop? any questions let me know

Wartoot Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 Tried doing a clean driver installation first? Download DDU (display driver uninstaller). When you start the program, let it reboot in safe mode, and run the program. Then install new drivers. Are the flickerings during gaming or not?

Are the flickerings during gaming or not? they occur during gaming usually noticeable on the loading screens When you say flickering do you mean a quick white flash then back to the normal picture or do you mean sparkles (i.e. weird pixel artifacts)? If the former, I do get those on loading screens but not in game. However I do use full screen windowed mode and just assumed it was just an in engine/device driver setting change. (I don't run full directX native screen because I do sometimes like to alt-tab out to do other things and back again). If the latter, (i.e. sparkles), then I suspect the graphics card is on it's way out.

If the latter, (i.e. sparkles), then I suspect the graphics card is on it's way out. its hard to describe its like a loose cable jump but weaker it occurs on the desktop and while gaming (its less noticeable in gaming as it usually does it on the loading screens) sometimes it does it only once sometimes it jumps twice in a row the frequency of it happening is random another thing is does very rarely i haven't seen it do it very often is flash a color usually green though i have seen others like white and pink
