Followers won't interact with player(Lydia)

Recently I have got an issue where lydia won't talk to me and I can't start a dialogue with her.

that has happened to me alot but i have some mods such as AFT installed that control follower dialogue. it might help someone help you if you listed some of the mods that deal with followers.

 

i never really tried to diagnose the problem, i would just revert to an older save

I usually try using console to disable and enable a follower, but sometimes the save is just broken.

I've also tried to revert to an older save but that doesn't help, I tried to kill lydia still no change, and then I tried reseting AFT but that doesn't work either.

Did you do something to her? (for example rape)

 

Bring the console down, click on her and try using this command

player.setrelationshiprank <NPCID> 4

 

After that, try talk to her

 

 

Using disable / enable wont help because your save game already has information that modifies her (the save game is like a "mod").

This is not beacuse the save its "broken", on the contrary, its working as intended. Else by using disable / enable she wouldnt have any of the equipment you might just gave to her or new dialogues (because of quests or relationship increases)

I've done that but that hasn't helped and it has also affected Jordis the Sword maiden. so 2 down

Cheat mode:

 

 

- Bring down console and click on Lydia

- You will see 2 ID, one called "Base ID" and the other just "ID"

- Use command "player.placeatme <LydiaBASEID> 1"

- A "clone" of Lydia will spawn. If you can talk to her then...

- Dismiss "original" Lydia (reset AFT, UFO, EFF or what ever if you have to)

- Ask "cloned" Lydia to follow

- Use "disable" command on "original" Lydia

 

Be aware that doing this might also have unforseen consecuences since you are replacing an existing NPC
