Markarth thane bug, looking for help.

Hello, i've searched all over the internet looking for an answer but i couln'y find anything.

My problem is, that i can't become thane of Markarth, i can buy the house, i did several missions and i even did the return the shield to the jarl mission, after returning the shield mission, i dont get the new dialog "need anything alse my jarl?", Igmund keeps telling me the normal dialogs.

 

As i said, i did the shield mission, and i can buy the house, but i can't become thane, and i cant get Argis because of it, maybe someone could help me?

Im new posting here, so i'll try my best posting the things needed to look for a fix. Thanks in advance

This is a vanilla bug of Favor250 (Thane of the Reach) quest, 

and, as far as I know, none of the bug fix mod like USKP/USLEEP has addressed this issue. 

 

First of all, try the following console command: "player.setstage favor250 20" 

If it does not work, you probably have to revert back to the previous save earlier than you had entered the entrance of Markarth.

 

The bug is caused by inappropriate shut-down of 'becoming the thane of the Reach (favor250)' quest, as following step:  

1. The quest itself is triggered at first by enter the city gate (and witnessing the assault of Weylin to Margaret- the result of assault itself is irrelevant). 
2. After the phase 1 (above) and until you once get the dialogue 'Anything else you need, my jarl? (=Quest stage of favor250: 15)', ANY INCREASE OF DISPOSITIONS OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE REACH OTHER THAN THE JARL HIMSELF CAN POSSIBLY STOP THE QUEST AND NO WAY TO RESUME: Not 100%, but it is very likely to shut down. To give some examples, to clear the Heart of Dibella quest (liked by several NPCs) is absolutely no, to have sex (by some Sexlab add-on) and get intimated to some NPCs is no, and even to give a gold to the begger Degaine (also liked by him) is no.

 

The safe way of completing the thane quest is as following: 

1. Same as 1 above.
2. Go to the mournful throne (the throne of the jarl of the Reach) directly, and speak to the jarl as soon as possible.
3. Clear ONLY the two quests from the jarl, like forsworn bounty (favor151) and the shield quest (favor157) WITHOUT clearing ANY quest within the REACH until you get 'Anything else you need, my jarl?'. it's also OK to clear these two quest by use of console command: 'player.setstage favor151 15'/ 'player.setstage favor157 15'.
4. Once you get ''Anything else you need, my jarl?', and 'Assist the people of the Reach (0/5)', you're free to do (almost) anything in the hold of the Reach! 
5. Help at least five NPCs of the Reach by completing some quests, return to the jarl, get thaned, and you can finally meet your housecarl, Argis(done)!

I did made a few missions before talking to the jarl, like the cleaning of the mine, the dibella statue by Degaine, the house of horrors and one of the dark brotherhood (im lvl 46), did a bunch of missions before talking to the jarl, this is the second time i have this problem, also in my last playthrough.

Before that i've never had this problem, so i'll try the things you say and the next time, run straight to the jarl.

I tried the setstage favor 250 20, and a few more commnads, the ones i found in internet with people with a problem similar to mine with no success.
 

Again thanks a lot, i'll try this in my next playthrough since the first time i got to markarth was when i was lvl 15 (sanguine quest at whiterun).
 

One last question if i may, Would be a problem for the game if i  "moveto player (argis)" and use him like this? since i tried without save, and he did talked to me like if i was the thane, and i can buy the house, so he went straight forward there.

Thanks again, i did witnessed Margaret death at the entrance while doing the sanguine quest (trying to not use the fast travel)

 

I will also try to use Argis as a follower the moveto player way, since that's the only reason i wanted to be thane in the first place.
