Sural Argonus Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Ok. I've tried installing several ENBs. I can run the game fine without. I follow the instructions to the letter. Make all the necessary changes to all the required .ini files. Game loads to the menu. I see the Boris dude's text saying the ENB info loaded. Go load a game. It crashes to the desktop. Doesn't matter if I load a game or start a new game. I am not running any overlay software. I am running a brand new nVidia Geforce 730. I only installed the PhysX drivers and the video drivers. I didn't install anything else. I even disabled the Steam overlay.System specs:i7-6700 Geforce 730 16GB Ram Not the greatest, but it shouldn't have any issues running an ENB for Skyrim...unless the video card just doesn't like the d3d9.dll...but I don't know enough to be sure.Anyone got any ideas?
jfraser Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Install DirectX End User Runtime. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109 After following the link it gives a download for directx_Jun2010_redist.exe, which asks you for a location to unpack the files. Give it a temporary location, then find the files that were unpacked and run the DXSETUP.exe. This is what actually installs the DirectX 9 components that ENB neets to start without crashing.
Miyu Miyu Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 this sounds like windows 10 problem ....if you have it... some people don't have any issues but some do... i had the same problem when i installed windows 10.......the fix given above my post should help....

That was actually one of the first things I tried. But I will try again. I can run ENB on Fallout New Vegas tho. It's just Skyrim.
jfraser Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Hmm... Come to think of it, it wouldn't even get to the loading screen without that fix. Oh, wait. You said you loaded a game. is that a previous save? If so, try coc'ing to qasmoke first, then load the save.

Would click Load. Select any save game. Start loading. See the load screens. *BOOM* CTD. If I remove the ENB files...game loads fine.
Tefajo Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Sural, make sure you dont have a dll file from a previous ENB preset that is causing trouble. Use an ENB manager or look for it manuallyHere is a list of the files that shoudnt be there if you removed ENB properly common.fxhd3d9.dlld3d9.fxd3d9injFX.dlld3d9SFX.dlld3d9_aa.dlld3d9_fx.dlld3d9_fxaa.dlld3d9_SFX.dlld3d9_SFX_FXAA.dlld3d9_SFX_SMAA.dlld3d9_Sharpen.dlld3d9_smaa.dlld3d9_SweetFX.dlld3dx9.dlldxgi.dlldxgi.fxeax.dllEED_verasansmono.bmpeffect.txtenb.dllenbbloom.fxenbeffect.fxenbeffectprepass.fxenbhelper.dllenbhost.exeENBInjector.exeenbinjector.inienblens.fxenblensmask.pngenblensmask.tgaenblensmask.bmpenblocal.inienbpalette.bmpenbpatch.inienbraindrops.tgaenbraindrops_small.tgaenbseries.inienbseries.dllenbspectrum.bmpenbsunsprite.fxenbsunsprite.tgaenbsunsprite_Additional.tgaenbsunsprite_Additional_2.tgaenbsunsprite_Chroma_Lens.tgaenbsunsprite_Colored_Hexagons.tgaenbsunsprite_Exotic_Low_Sprites.tgaenbsunsprite_High Dispersion.tgaenbsunsprite_Low Dispersion.tgaenbsunsprite_MoonSprite.tgaenbsunsprite_Octagon_Nova_Glare.tgaenbsunsprite_Pentagons_Medium_Sprites.tgaenbsunsprite_Rotated.tgaenbsunsprite_Simple_Hexagons.tgaenbweather.bmpEnhancedENBDiagnostics.fxhFXAA.dllFXAA_d3d9.dllFXAA_Tool.exeinjector.iniinjFX_Settings.hinjFXAA.dlllens.fxlicense.txtlog.txtlog.logshader.fxSkyrimCustomShader_Config.hSMAA.fxSMAA.hSweetfx_d3d9.dllSweetFX_preset.txtSweetFX_settings.txttechnique.fxhuninstall.exe_weatherlist.iniaaa.inibbb.iniother_d3d9.dll_sample_enbraindropsinjFX_ShadersexesData\ShadersSweetFXenbseriesELEP Additional Shaders
Sural Argonus Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 I used the one from the ENB I downloaded. Every time I tried an ENB I would would start with no ENB files in the Skyrim folder. JUST to be sure, I checked against that list...and none of those items are there. But every time I put any Skyrim ENB in...it crashes :/ I could do it on my old computer with no problem. I ran Tetrachromatic without any issues.. I had an AMD 350 with 8GB RAM and a GeForce 640 tho. I have more RAM and, better video card...and obviously I run an intel chip instead of AMD...so really can't figure out why this isn't working.I haven't run an intel chip since I had a Pentium 2 350 chip. haha

Tefajo Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 If when removing ENB skyrim works and when installing it (any) crashes it its obviously a dll or library issue related with ENB. Unless.... You are using a enblocal.ini with the weirdest settings... but this is just trying to think something different, my bet would be on my previous assumption Either a library is missing, a dll is doing something that it shouldnt or... you are missing a step on the configuration for the ENB preset (yes, yes, i know you said you did all the steps but you would be suprise how many times we hear this and yet...) Sorry for poiting out something really stupid, but if you are using Mod Organizer, you do know that the skyrim.ini and prefs are located insilde the profile folder in mod organizer, right?
Sural Argonus Posted June 2, 2016 Author Posted June 2, 2016 I dunno what to say. I use NMM. I don't use it to install an ENB tho. I never have. I always install them manually. I follow the instructions to the letter. Mostly because I don't want to mess things up. I compare everything to make sure I haven't made any typos before I save. I copy over exactly what the instructions say to copy. I do exactly what the instructions tell me to do. The last ENB I used on my old computer is Tetrachromatic and it worked perfectly. I have tried this one, and multiple others. Following the instructions to the letter. All with the same results. First thing I did when I installed Skyrim on this computer before I put ANY mods in was put Tetrachromatic in. Again, following instructions to the letter. Crashed before I could even get to the opening (prisoner on cart sequence) So either this video card just flat out doesn't like ENBs, or I am missing something so ridiculous... haha
jfraser Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 I use nmm also, and I have tetrachromatic installed. I used nmm to install it, so perhaps try it that way.
Sural Argonus Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 It's getting to the point it doesn't even matter. I've been fighting with it for several days now. I can only get it running without an ENB...WHen I do get it running...I can play for only short bursts no matter what I do. I keep getting memory allocation crashes. I've done every possible fix I've googled.I think between this, the ENB issue, and the animation issue I have with male characters, I think it's about time I just give up on Skyrim and move on to other games. I spend more time getting annoyed then actually doing anything productive
jfraser Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 So you did all this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/? And this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32363/?

It happened to me, i got so frustrated by random CTDs and mods not working as they should i needed a 6 month break before trying again. But then, i made things work again and i kept playing it
Sural Argonus Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 So you did all this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244/? And this: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32363/? I did not use the ini listed in the second link, as I use these values: [Display] iTintTextureResolution=2048 [General] ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 EnableDiagnostics=1 [Memory] DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=1280 ScrapHeapSizeMB=256 I have tried various DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB, but nothing makes a difference. 1280 was just the last one I tried. I have lot of crashes due to Memory Allocation as well. Fighting with that. Problem is...a lot of the fixes deal with already having an ENB, so I have few routes. I think I am just going to uninstall all my mods yet again...delete Skyrim, and reinstall fresh...again. This is getting old. haha
Tefajo Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=1280 ??? How does you game even starts?
Sural Argonus Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=1280 ??? How does you game even starts? All that does is gives a larger amount of memory allocation. It doesn't seem to help much for anything tho. I had only just changed it. Doesn't matter tho. I am uninstalling all my mods as we speak. After that the game is getting uninstalled and I will reinstall.
jfraser Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I feel your pain. I've lost count of the number of times I've done the same
Sural Argonus Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 OK. Got it installed. No mods installed whatsoever. Clean setup. Nothing installed...Not even SKSE. Going to try an ENB first and see what happensInstalled and Tetrachromatic installed over Vanilla Skyrim. No mods. Only SKSE installed. Launching. *crossing fingers*
Sural Argonus Posted June 3, 2016 Author Posted June 3, 2016 OK. Well...Update. I got the ENB working...but the frame rate is just horrid. I dunno how to fix that. I kinda figured with my build I should get better then 5fps...so not sure all that effort was really worth it now. HAHAHAHAlso think some or most of my crashes may have been because I inadvertently installed some 4k texture mods. I don't think my video card likes those...so this time I am making sure I *DON'T* install any. haha
