Afro68 Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I've been away from Sims for a while and considered dropping the game. I've downloaded soo much CC that it's time for a major cleanup as I have a bad simpack in my game somewhere but don't know what. Has anyone use this method found here? I truly don't want to delete everything in my DCCache folder and find that all over again. The reason for this method is my Sims launcher crashes when I scroll down now. I think I made the major mistake in the past of installing Sims with simpacks instead of sim file. maraas Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 HAHA! Sage ay? to be honest i didn`t bother to do this, as I don`t really play the game, I just fiddle around with it. But if you care about your game I sure would have given it a try, and it might even be easier then what i ended up doing I made a fresh game with no mods, and then took all s3p`s I considered a must, checked them with custard http://modthesims.info/d/390235 and to make sure there were no attached cc(does not show with custard) i also checked with sims3packfilegeneratetool (sakura)http://modthesims.info/d/473766 (sims, households and lots mostly) Look for a bastskirt, a hairdo and arezzo bathromcounter as they seem to be the most common unwanted attached cc) then I converted all the s3p`s that don`t have to be in that format to packages (hair clothes etc etc) http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=364038 checked the entire modfolder with delphys dashboard to make sure there are no conflicts/duplicates/corrupted packages http://modthesims.info/d/387006 then merge. yeah it takes time and effort. Maybe you could upload a copy of your sims3folder to me and I`d have a look. Maybe a new set of eyes could find the culprit? I`ll Pm you an upload link Cheers Maraas the wannabeSage

Afro68 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 Wow... 41 gigs is a lot. Mine's sitting at only about 8 gigs. Sims 3 doesn't exactly have the best coding and excessive CC really adds up in the long run. I would recommend avoiding the Sims 3 launcher in the future because I hear it can be a bit problematic. I agree with maraas about converting your sims3packs to packages, as it makes it much easier to remove unwanted CC. I've gotten into the habit of never using the Sims 3 Launcher for anything and installing all my CC through organized folders and packages with hardly any problems. If you decide to continue playing Sims, I highly recommend changing your CC install methods in the future. Wish I could help more on the subject of removing the bad CC, but I haven't a clue. However I wish you the best of luck. I might actually backup my folder and just start over and try to figure out this cc magic thing and keep my CC down. If things get borked I can always just replace my Sims 3 folder in My>Documents.
Afro68 Posted May 24, 2016 Author Posted May 24, 2016 UPDATE: I've used the method listed in Crin's post and thanks to Maraas I did have the Arezzo counter that is problematic. It took a while as it was dbc file 10 in my DcCache folder. I've uninstalled it and I still probably have some bad cc somewhere else but for the time being I saw huge performance jump once removed. My game wasn't 100% lagfree because of HQ mod, SweetFx and max setting but the lag was very, very miminal, pretty much lagfree. Lesson learned...
