Need advice concerning Mod-modification

I'm a huge fan of nafis399's Mindi Badweyn follower mod, and when version 1.2 was released, the voice-bank was switched (which I liked), but the hairstyle was changed (which I was not a fan of). This was because the hairstyle came from hellosanta's SG 268 hair pack, and nafis399 received a request from hellosanta to take it down.

Despite my best attempts, I've been unable to revert Mindi's hair while keeping the voice acting. I've tried altering the NPC's facegens through the Creation Kit, racemenu, carrying over a preset-save via Familiar Faces, and a couple of other ways, but whenever I attempt to swap out the offending hairstyle, things tend to break. The character will be rendered mute, the skin textures will mess up, the face will switch to a completely different one, and so-forth.

I've also tried modifying the .nifs through nifSkope, but I've never tried it before, and I haven't a faintest idea what I can do.

Is there any way I can accomplish my goal without starting a new follower from scratch?
