Custom race NPC

So when I tried to make an NPC with CK, I set her using a custom race. However, CTD occurs when I tried to find her or when I use player.placeatme XXXXXX. I tried switching her from a custom race to a vanilla race and it worked, but when I revert it back to a custom race (and another custom) it CTDed again =( I could create a new character with the custom races (moonshadow elves and Drow) but NPCs just won't work somehow =(

Can anyone please give me some advices cuz I am a modding noob.

 

Also, how do you solve head discolouration?

Oh lol I am not trying to make a new race (too nooby for that =p)

To make an NPC use a custom race...

 

From my understanding...

ESP can only read ESM files, so the plugin that edits the NPC data is trying to read an esp file that holds the race data and crashes.

 

The solution is to convert the race esp file into an ESM file.

 

This can be done with Wrye Bash(Smash) or tesvsnip v4. I use Wrye Smash personally.

 

This worked for me... Same with making NPCs wear custom clothing.

Im not sure, but can't you use that NPC editor that everybody's using on nexus?

 

oops, nevermind I guess it doesn't allow race-changing...maybe a future update might add this?
