demongoat Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 anyone playing the weekend beta? i've been playing it all weekend and i think this will be a pretty darn good game. it feels pretty fresh to me just simply because it isn't a fantasy game, and i'm so sick of fantasy mmos. the quests are pretty cool too, you have to go searching for them and some are mystery quests that you have to follow steps on. the graphics on the game are heavy, the game has a dx11 client with tessellation, man does that do a number on my card lol i love the idea of incorporating all kinds of conspiracies, the first place in the beta was a town overrun by zombies named kingsmouth. as a h.p. lovecraft fan that is nothing short of awesome. sad it is over though, i hope they do something with Illuminati next, since that is my secret society.

This is a nice twist, with MMO's actually innovating and moving ahead of the pack in terms of graphics. Maybe because MMO's aren't geared to work on consoles so devs are moving forward? That tessellation only works for DX11 cards, yes?

[/quote'] oh yeah, FC has been attempting to advance the tech in mmos, age of conan had a dx10 client. it looks pretty cool with tessellation it gives the game a more real feel to the world. yeah only directx 11 cards can do tessellation. FC desires to make console versions but until the new consoles come out it won't really be worth it.

[/quote'] i'm not sure why you are responding like this? why so angry? part of the game is the graphics, you make it sound like a personal affront that they improve the graphics on a system stagnating from trying to support 8 year-old hardware. there is way more to TSW than the graphics, at least for me, but the graphic engine is still impressive since very few games use directx 11 much less a mmo. also, who would buy an 800 dollar video card? that would be a waste of money, you haven't needed to buy anything over 300 for about 4-5 years, people still use a geforce 8800 to play most games that came out recently. it came out in what? 2007? i just bought a 560 ti with 448 cores, it will last me for a few years at least, by that time it will be well worth upgrading, hopefully to something better than a keplar card, and keplars are awesome.

Queen Bee Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 I missed the beta test, but a friend sent me a one day free trial (really, only one?). I've only played it a few hours, so this is just a preliminary reaction, but I have to say...holy shit. This is everything I've wanted in an MMO. Story driven, emphasis on immersion and community, access to all skills, powers and abilities with no class restrictions, customizable costumes that have nothing to do with your armor (I like to accessorize, sue me), and oh yeah, voice acting that isn't shit. It also helps that concepts like the Illuminati, conspiracy theories and Lovecraftian creatures are right up my alley. The only downside thus far is that my ancient computer can't seem to stand up to the graphics, so it's laggy as hell. God, I need a new computer. That said, once I do get said new computer, I think I'm definitely going to be giving this game a good couple of weeks to a month to really get a feel for it, see if it carries the momentum it sets for itself at the start.

Phelps1247 Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 It's pretty empty now. Took about 5 days to find someone to do Hell Fallen with and they thankfully suggested running it again. There was some glitch that allowed nudity before and they were apparently told to put on clothes or they'd be banned. Which is horrifically ironic as the game is rated M and these people made Age of Conan. Also the succubi have exposed breasts. Plus the nipples are covered by smiley faces anyway which you can still see sometimes.
Animaniac Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Actually, it's still very busy. It's not hard to get groups for dungeons at all. Our cabal keeps having to shut down applications we get so many. The original nude mod made it so everyone in the game could see you nude, whether they had the mod or not, that is what they objected to, the Dev mentioned in the thread about it that a client only nude mod they wouldnt object to. Also a few days later a talented modder whop was working on something comepletly different mentioned in his thread he beleived he found a way to make a client only nude mod, but that he wasn't going to do ti. If nothing else, it means it may be possible to do if someone with the talent looked into it.
