KainsChylde Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 So I was thinking in the shower, you know, like I do, and I came up with this insane 4 part mod. Part One: During the course of either Dead Money or Old World Blues you come across schematics for the Sierra Madre Vending Machines. They would be complex, require a lot of tech parts (Scrap metal, scrap electronics, sensor modules, conductors, Fusion Batteries, etc.) and a very high science and/or repair skill to build (80+). Part Two: Once you return to the Mojave, you find an NPC that is able to modify the design to use any coin-based currency instead of just Sierra Madre chips. Part Three: In partnership with this NPC, you find a facility to start manufacturing the machines, and either through an existing group (Crimson Caravan) or your own company, set up distribution for the machines throughout the Mojave in different towns and the Strips casinos. During this process you will naturally encounter opposition from existing companies/individuals (CC if you go solo, Mr. House, etc.) who would view you as competition. Perhaps offer options on how to handle this opposition. Alliances, bribes, worst case scenario combat. After distribution is set up, a networking of the devices is set up to share recipes throughout the system and collect profits from a central location. Part Four is the tricky bit: Perhaps a scanner of some sort to scan in items to add to the shopping/recipe list. Crazy, right? But is it doable?
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Sounds good but prehaps scale it down a bit, have it simply sell pre-existing items, and be stocked with items automatically thru the mod. Also, have the option for the player (or employees) to go to each machine and load them. If you load it, you just use it like a container and put stuff into it and it's sold at base value (no haggling with a machine). If a NPC travels to load it for you, you add to them what they are to add, chance that they will be robbed enroute by bandits and competing groups, and a mini quest to track the goods (which may be being used by the thieves) pops up and you start a clue hunt.
