Or simple fix for overal slal sorting and organizing problem. I don't know if I'm appropriate person to propose this, but still:
General idea is to make little web-site\web-app that'll have

1) Sharer area for package or animation creators to post their files - description - animation previews - etc.
2) General area for common folk to browse packs from various authors, check previews on-site and dl pack from either server, standard LL downloads section or some file sharing service in case they're interested.

Why I post here? Because I have hosting, some sub-domains laying around, a dire need to train with web skills, and mainly because I'm interested in simple way to acquire packs (honestly, as of current matter it's heavy pain in ass)

What can I do for that? Basically main infrastructure - site or app, all web-programming and stuff, provide free hosting for such place (semi-free to be honest, I might place some ads in case of heavy traffic, but I doubt it'll be problem)

How long it'll take me to create such place? I suppose week or so, I haven't messed with secure authentication so I'll have to check it out, or maybe I'll just use google-oAuth-etc style that let you login with some popular social media 's account.

Please share your opinion if such place is necessary or not.

Up-to-date status:

  • WIP, finished basic system of adding packs and working with db. Going to set up pack editing next.

Currently featured:

  • Most html stuff, you can check it out here, don't be afraid of white pages or some strange long errors - it's me doing backend stuff that can hang whole site or page.
  • 'Content Creators' area where (authorized) ppl would add or (edit) their packs, you can check how it works now on-site. (stuff is brackets is WIP)
  • We now have authorization system, woot! In case you're interested in techy stuff:

All passwords are stored in hashed form, all SQL access managed via prepared statements, so it should be hack-resistant and secure (I hope so), if you know more stuff to make things more secure feel free to contact me. I try to not store any solid information about users and keep it clean and cool. But you're welcome to try to breach my stuff and send me a message about it, I'll appreciate this for sure.

Planned features:

  • Packs sorting and searching, by anims author, by pack creator, by date, (by featured animations maybe? (like most times threesome or creature race is stated in description)).
  • Tags system (check what you want to see)
  • On-site pack creator - check anims you like, punch some buttons and get SLAL mod ready just for your tastes.
  • Own set of wenches and mead ale

Based on whooping 19 of 23 votes of utter agreement with my idea, I got my bravery to bump this up and post a small update on the matter:

I started making bare bones of future 2.5 pages web site and here you can live check first samples. (yes, I do know that I'm a bad designer, so somebody could lend me a hand with this one)

And for starters here's my sacred vision of how it's going to look after I'm finished:

post-313468-0-25912600-1460409293_thumb.png
(yes I know that my drawing skills even better than designing, but still)

As you probably can see there will be 2 main areas: general area and content creator members area.

First one is plain long list of featured packs (ordered by date, newest first). Each pack will have small meta consisting of animations author, pack creator and date updated. Plus lots of previews.

Second is for registered pack creators. It'll have small left pane with currently published packs and huge right that'll expand currently selected published and host a form to create new one. Pretty simple and straightforward. (Little thingy in bottom right part is modal window preview (I hope they called so or I got something sometime wrong) for adding animations representations, be it gifs or static pics. Either via linking to photohoster or uploading to server (doubt it'll be the case))

So that's my little rundown. Feel free to propose different kinds of layout and stuff cause as of now everything is liquid-y and is easy to change.

Well I made some progress this week (yesterday-only actually).

Moved to proper sub-domain: (check dat out!).

Made proper layout for both main areas.

Now I'll start making invisible and semi-invisible stuff like populating and testing db access or making pages load dynamically. Since most ppl non-verbally already supported my cause I'll close poll.

So thumbs up again, fleshed out data access and made basic pack-managing structure (editing still WIP but you can check out adding packs at SLAR-CC area).

I'll be doing user authentication next (pack editing too of course) and will send some of test logins for current pack creators (if you like to participate in final closed beta - pm me).

All in all it's kinda starting to lift off, so feel free to pm me any questions or strange stuff going on site. (cause there shouldn't be any errors or failures at current state, and if they are here - I'll have to fix them).

P.S. Yeah I know it's not week of calendar time, but it'll be a week of work time when I'm finished, it's sad to work on hobby only weekends.

Repo-repository?  I looked at the poll to find out what it was(like the idea from the description, cheers!) but maybe changing the name would get more hits?  Just a small suggest of course, totally up to u.  :-)

We need a detailed tagging system which can filter out unwanted animations(or unwanted animators) AND filter in specific animators' works. I try to filter out M2M contents internally, but it always turns out to be quite challenging.

Thanks for the heads up, updated topic title to more up-to-date variant.

We need a detailed tagging system which can filter out unwanted animations(or unwanted animators) AND filter in specific animators' works. I try to filter out M2M contents internally, but it always turns out to be quite challenging.

I could add tags field for creator to fill and then make check-boxes list for ppl to check what they want to view. But it'll have to wait till open beta stage. (I'll add this up in planned features section)

And as a great bonus to current system, I'm thinking about creating script that'll pack animations into slal mod from source animation files provided by authors (that'll basically remove the need in pack creators constant work and make thing automating), but I have to see tutorials and stuff to know if that's even possibru and feasible (and that'll have to wait even more, sadly exams are nearing in and I have less time to work on this)
