Content Consumer Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 View File ARTILLERY (SMOKE) GRENADES UN-NERFED NOTE: Looks like someone did the same thing, only better. Check it out (link). Description:Artillery Grenades have a much shorter range than other grenades in the vanilla game. This is possibly to avoid players getting an unfair advantage with artillery bombardments. But I didn't like it - having my grenade hit a wall in midair and drop to the ground was really pulling me out.So this mod just switches the grenade detonation timer, so the throwing range is same as the other vanilla grenades. Installation:I think it should work just fine with NMM or the mod manager of your choice. If you need to ask about manual installation, you already know exactly how to do it. Uninstallation:Does not contain any scripts, so it *should* be fine to uninstall. Credits:chucksteel, for teaching me how to use xEdit properly, and pointing out the variable that needed to be changed. Content Consumer Posted March 18, 2016 Author Posted March 18, 2016 Just to clarify how this works - it does not make artillery flares explosive, or alter their damage in any way. It also does not alter the artillery bombardment itself. It merely increases the range you can throw the smoke grenades.
Antioch666 Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 120 hrs ingame and havent even used the nades that much :-P and then to find this on Loverslab rofl, maybe would be a good idea to try it out!
AsariX Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 120 hrs ingame and havent even used the nades that much :-P and then to find this on Loverslab rofl, maybe would be a good idea to try it out! Well, artillery grenades in general are/were pretty meh, since you have to build the artillery pieces in your settlements first, otherwise you wouldn't be able to use them on most of the map. Then you have to throw the grenade, which was pretty short range, this alerted the targets, so they'd generally no longer be in the spot where you threw the grenade. And then you'd have a problem finding all the loot, because it got thrown all over the place. And that's not counting all the cases I've had where I threw a smoke grenade well within artillery range, and was then told that they couldn't make the shot for some reason. So I'm sure I'm not the only one going "meh, I'll clear the place myself and do better things with my settlement budgets." I'll give these improved grenades a shot, since they definitely address one of the issues I have with artillery, but I'm still not sold on the concept/implementation of artillery overall.

Not to mention that the grenades are completely useless on roving patrols because the delay between throwing the grenade and the artillery strike is pretty long, and that even with artillery pieces at every single settlement they still don't reach into the Glowing Sea and have big gaps across the rest of the map, and the delay between times when you can fire when they're apparently reloading, and the delay between shells in the volley, and the fact that the shells random area always seems too damn large to me. Artillery bombardments are a very specialized resource, they're only good in a couple of narrow circumstances. But I like 'em anyway. It's fun to see things go boom. Cathartic. EDIT: I can also recommend this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9716/? And I haven't actually tried either of these, but they look good: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9513/? http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4597/?
jordisslave Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 "Requires: Fallout 4. Duh." That's just presumptious and rude. I have an Aliens Assault Rifle, an AK and an M16 available in Skyrim. I can no longer find the Dwemer Rifle. Just call me Laura Friendly.

I have an Aliens Assault Rifle, an AK and an M16 available in Skyrim. I can no longer find the Dwemer Rifle. Just call me Laura Friendly. Requires: A computer. No, that won't do either, because consoles... Requires: A pair of eyeballs. That's just rude to all the gamers out there with only one eyeball. Requires: Existence. And cue the discussion of Descartes and Simulated Realities and all that... I think I'll just stick with the "duh" bit. p.s. Aliens Assault Rifle? I don't remember seeing that...
jordisslave Posted March 18, 2016 Posted March 18, 2016 p.s. Aliens Assault Rifle? I don't remember seeing that... Ah, actually they're not currently available, although the files are there. I noticed an item code that began with FF and freaked out, removing dozens, including that. The mods were GUNMOD (file name) and Modern Firearms. Don't know where they came from. You should rename this mod Distant Smoke. It's currently far too self-explanatory.

Suggested mod titles: This Mod Does Something This Is A Mod It This Mod Is A Mod And It Mods Something Moddable Insert Title Here Modderfokker (this is a mod title, not a smiley) The Mod Formerly Known As Prince Of course, there's great value in brand name recognition. So maybe it'd be better to make a new mod and use one of these titles: Sexlab SkyUI Unofficial Skyrim Patch (obviously this is a Fallout 4 mod)
Content Consumer Posted March 19, 2016 Author Posted March 19, 2016 Hahaha where can i download duh Youtube generally has great quantities of it for free. Just check the comments section.
