Is it risky to use console commands to fix a glitched quest?

Usually I use the console commands to help me when my character gets stuck (tcl), I remember using a console command to skip a bugged stage with the Cabbot House quest. I didn't have any trouble back on my first playthrough when I used this.

I try to be careful with mods, using a lot of replacers to get things done without using esp files. I try as much as I can to avoid these until the CK is released.

 

Since I learned about the coming DLCs, I thought it would be a good idea to start a new character, been leveling since.

Everything was fine, I did however skipped the Fire Support quest unlike my previous playthroughs were I instantly went to help Danse.

 

Problem is, for the first time I get the bug with Danse saying "Check your fire we got hostiles", even though I killed every ghouls in all waves.

I tried to set the game on very easy, stay near the scribe so she wouldn't go down, stayed near the building because I read some ghouls spawns from the roof and that can avoid issues, but in my case it didn't. Annoyed, I tried to tcl through every single building nearby to see if a ghoul was stuck somewhere.

 

Nothing.

So it seems I'm forced to use the command "setstage BoS100 40". But I'm kinda afraid to do so, I'm pretty sure that this won't have bad effects after that but I'm quite sad to have to be forced to use this to skip a stupid bug. Did anyone used a similar console command to fix a quest bug and didn't have issues later? It may sound stupid but I'm a bit scared, I don't want to restart again

Well there's always the risk of fiddling with console commands.

 

If you do it right there wont be a problem but it might appear later in the future(as you play), if you do it wrong quite alot of problem will happen.

 

You can save before you use the console command and in the case that something bad happens you can reload that save.

I thought this was about using console commands in general. Was gonna advise to refrain from using console as long as possible before it spoils you.

Haha I know some commands can fuck the game, I just tested on a very old save (like just when I got before the Vault) and the quest Fire Support with Danse works fine. I have no clue why it's bugged like that, I suspect it's because I killed

Kellogg, and the Brotherhood ship came in the Commonwealth

that made the quest/npc bug.

Guess I'll have to restart my character.. again
