I was just looking for ideas for ways to role play in skyrim. What storys do you give your character when you roll a new one ? Or some sort of objective or constraints you play with to make the game more interesting?

The best role playing experience I had was a thief. Using the alternate start mod to start as a Tavern Patreon in the Rifton Inn helped a bit but the most important thing is Requiem. This is imo the best mod for "serious" role playing. If you play as a thief you can´t just walk around killing people you have to be sneaky, you want to do the radiant quests for the money etc. I just love it! It basically forces you to role play. Mirabelle was just a kind of a drifter getting pulled into the guild and the plots and she stayed for the gold and companions. 

 

My other lovely Character ist Janna Loveswood, the innocent, spoiled, not to bright and magicaly talented daughter of a rich merchant family from Cyrodiil. She was sent to Skyrim by here new step mother to learn how to stand on her own feet and to advance her arcane studies (and to get her out of the way). She gets herself into a lot of precarious and sexy situations This world is very over the top and sexualized . Getting enslaved is kind of an oopsi doopsie kind of thing. Coming from a rich family she is really  bad when it comes to handling money. she loves to buy pretty and unnecessary things. But beeing in constant need for gold is just another way to get into trouble in Skyrim. 

 

My characters usually don´t have a real obbjective besides enjoying live /getting money / buying a house etc. Most of the time they just live from one day to another taking oppurtunities that fit their character traits. This might have to do with the fact, that accomplishing something like becoming Archmage basically ends the game for them. They can´t just go around anymore doing minor stuff without breaking character. And the world also doesn´t really recognize you as the archmage therefore breaking immersion even more.

 

What helps me alot is to use the alternate start mod and going through the options until I have an intresting idea for a character with that background.

 

Constraints are usually sleeping in a bed at night eating and not doing quests/actions that break the character traits kind of things.

 

edit: Oh and no quest markers and quick traveling.
