Jay1646 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Yea so i ran boss after I re-installed everything, put in all the nice new patches and what not. Then put in some mods, ran boss now when i fire up the oblivion launcher, it says my installation is corrupted:( wtf boss! anyway to fix this? can i just use obmm instead for enabling and disabling mods? Because I can still use the mods i have in there.
gregathit Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Jay, what do you mean the oblivion launcher? The obse_loader.exe? Barring something drastically wrong you should be able to use OBMM to enable or disable mods.
sammythesquirrel Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 what Greg said mine does the same thing if I try to use the regular game launcher obse refuses to launch I get the corrupt install error and the program kills gotta use obmm or wryebash to launch the game
canthics Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Boss is a 100% optional convenience tool. I personally never use it because my build order is my own. If you know what build order works, just rearrange away. OBMM works, but Wryebash is by far the best way to go, even if you don't intend on doing any of the 'hard' stuff like bashing patches or rearranging masters. Honestly, lovers the lovers build order is really not that complicated in the first place.
ferdain Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 Do you have a modified Oblivion.exe? If so obse 2.0 may have an issue with it.
GMac2021 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 The latest version of BOSS destroyed my game. After being forced to "upgrade" the software, BOSS decided it was a good idea to either change - or completely remove - all Bash tags from my mods. I tried to fix it manually, but with little success... So now I'm just using one of my last working load orders (saved from OBMM) as a guideline. BOSS doesn't recognize half the mods that I want to use, anyway.
ferdain Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I'm using the lastest version of BOSS 2.0.1 on Vista and have ZERO issues. I run it through wyre-bash and individually with its own GUI. The BOSS Software is GNU licensed and does not remove or adjust any Bash tags. If you fail to believe this go look at its source code. Its freely available. It does however have the ability to hide certain info which can make you believe it has destroyed you're tags. Id suggest you check the BOSS Log Filters in the option menu. On the other hand, OBSE 20 does check the oblivion.exe and will issue corrupt install messages if you are using an exe with a no-CD patch, etc. Check the OBSE Docs. I HIGHLY recommend you use a BOSS userlist instead of a modified master list for the simple purpose of allowing the masterlist to auto update. (Thus now and in the future reducing the number of un-recognized mods) And Lastly you should submit the mods BOSS isnt recognizing to BOSS so as to get them included in future releases. (PS read your post on the Nexus too) You're issue may be with the new directory structure that the current BOSS version is using to handle multiple games. Moving it to the old directory structure will fix this.
GMac2021 Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I would just like BOSS to suggest a load order. It doesn't need to re-arrange my mods - a simple text or html list that I could use as a reference would be fine. I had zero problems with my load order before I downloaded the new version of BOSS. Now, I have to put half my mods below my bashed patch. This is a on fresh, clean install, with a new character. If I leave (a growing list of mods) where BOSS suggests I put them - they do not work at all. I'll check out the new directory structure, but some mods that were merged into my Bashed Patch when I just extracted them into my /Data folder will no longer merge after running BOSS. They lose their "green" colour and do not get merged. Is there an option to simply print out a list that I can refer to in the future? Anyway, this isn't the BOSS support forum. I'm not looking forward to installing the Lovers mods, though. I might just skip them this time around.
ferdain Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 Not quite sure if you mad at me for simply tyring to help, perhaps I was too verbose. BTW I use a bash patch too. Anyhow, I've made this up a bit ago, give it a try if you wish. http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=6350 The directory structure that works fine with wyre bash is as follows: Oblivion - Boss -- API -- Docs -- Oblivion (This is where the userlist is)
GMac2021 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I wasn't mad at you - I just disagree. My game was fine, my toon was lvl 40. Wrye Bash crashed when I ran BOSS, so I had to update BOSS. The update didn't work. They fixed it in a day or two. Running BOSS through Wrye worked again. Yay! Unfortunately, a good chunk of my mods did not work anymore. This was a stable install wherein the only change was the new version of BOSS. Before BOSS updated - fine and dandy. After BOSS updated - broken game. I do not believe in coincidence. This is an insane number of hoops to jump through to play a game. I never needed to jump through these hoops before. I'm not doing it now - I wouldn't even ask my dog to do it. I do NOT need BOSS to automatically change my load order. A simple suggestion - or recommendation - would suffice. Checking "Lock Times" in Wrye Bash works - sometimes. What works even better is not using BOSS at all. Is there a website that lists every mod BOSS supports, listed in order? I just want the reference.
