Cherrypop Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I've been waiting to get started on Fallout 4 until skin and hairstyle mods came out at least. And it finally did so I went and got fallout 4 yesterday. It was torture avoiding all the spoilers online. The Mods I installed is, http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/15/? Cali's body http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/8126/? Ponytail styles by azar http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/552/? young female face textures I"m now left scratching my head on where I went wrong. For Young Female Face I added the required line at bottom of the archives part in fallout4.ini [Archive] sResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4 - Textures1.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures2.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures3.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures4.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures5.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures6.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures7.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures8.ba2, Fallout4 - Textures9.ba2 sResourceStartUpArchiveList=Fallout4 - Startup.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2 SResourceArchiveList=Fallout4 - Voices.ba2, Fallout4 - Meshes.ba2, Fallout4 - MeshesExtra.ba2, Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Sounds.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2 SResourceArchiveList2=Fallout4 - Animations.ba2 sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\ SGeometryPackageList=Fallout4 - Geometry.csg SCellResourceIndexFileList=Fallout4.cdx SResourceArchiveMemoryCacheList= Fallout4 - Misc.ba2, Fallout4 - Shaders.ba2, Fallout4 - Interface.ba2, Fallout4 - Materials.ba2 bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\ As for Poneytail, As you can see, i did the archive invalidation + added in texture for young female face + ponytail. Then I went into Plugins.txt and inserted the azar ponytail in to there and saved. But what it seems like, every time I fire up fallout 4, that azar ponytail.esp always gets deleted from it for some reason. Even when I deny it the right to write. Both CBBE and azar ponytails is staying in the dlclist.txt But if I go into the game and start a new game, Ponytails, young face dont' show up. Press X to change sex, then F to go to face and then mouse over a part of face to press T to change type, word young is missing while when I select the hair, azar ponytails is not showing up in list of haircuts. I"m lost at this point don't know what I'm doing wrong now.
Ventus2111 Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 There are 2 things you should do. One is an additional step and two is how to start the game with mods. One: Do to your Fallout4Custom.ini (or create it if it doesn't exist) and add this [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= I don't know if it's still needed to do this, but I was told that this is necessary too for Archive Invalidation. Those are also the only additional lines needed for making mods work. This means adding STRINGS\ (for example) is useless. Two: I'm not completely sure (because I never did it myself), but starting Fallout 4 with the Launcher disables all your mods. A solution is to either try Fallout.exe or install F4SE. There are also some other hair mods, different skin textures and even Bodyslide available for Fallout 4 (available at the Nexus). And a little information for you: You won't find the word 'young' when choosing face textures. The mod replaces the face texture itself, it doesn't add one.
Frel Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 A properly working way to enable modding on Fallout 4 is described here: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Fallout_4_Mod_Installation As a matter of fact -- whether you are experimented or beginner -- I strongly recommend you to use a mod manager. Right now your only "stable" option remains Nexus Mod Manager (NMM which is easy to find when you are on nexus web site where you probably got your mods) But if you feel more advneturous (and plan to not complain if things are not working but instead bring constructive feedback to the dev of this tool) you can search for Mod Organizer 2 alpha which was considered in Skyrim as one of the best tool for this. But yeah ignore this last pargraph because Mod Organizer is still alpha and hence just for testing purposes. So go get NMM and follow the instructions I linked you to (I believe also that NMM will complain should it identifies something that would prohibit the mods to load)
gt5000 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 I think if you're a novice at modding I would just use Nexus Mod Manager. Its really user friendly and has direct downloading, nexus site to mod manager. Almost 0 configuration needed.
Cherrypop Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Ahh I see so what I was missing is F4SE. Thanks, now next problem is the young face that's still not showing up. Could you take a look at this part in fallout4.ini bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\ Did I enter it right or Should I just delete the duplicate line and move the strings/textures up one line?
Ventus2111 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Go to your Fallout4Custom.ini (or create it if it doesn't exist) and add this [Archive] bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 sResourceDataDirsFinal= I don't know if it's still needed to do this, but I was told that this is necessary too for Archive Invalidation. Those are also the only additional lines needed for making mods work. This means adding STRINGS\ (for example) is useless. With other words, add what you added to your Fallout4.ini to your Fallout4Custom.ini too. That should fix everything. And remember, that the young face mod doesn't add anything. I guess you misunderstood it in the description of the mod, you will not find an option called "young". I'm not sure, but "smooth" should be what you are looking for.

Ahh I see so its the Smooth instead of young no wonder why I was so confused.
