Master of Disguise not preventing guards from attacking me (forsworn)

So I just started a play through with Skyrim Unbound, which I've used forever and adore. The author recently added the option to start the game as a member of one of the factions, so I started as a Forsworn. It's pretty dank so far, but I've been running into a few probs. Not anything broken that needs trouble shooting, just some things that make gameplay frustrating. Guards and soldiers will attack me on sight, which is amazing for rp. The problem is that I can't enter civilization without getting fucked. I want to be able to slip into towns to buy food/water (I'm running iNeed) and sell things. I have the now defunct Master of Disguise, and I assumed that killing a guard and donning his armor would let me walk into town unharmed, but the other guards always get agro'd. I don't have a huge understanding of how these mods accomplish what they accomplish, so it's possible that they're not even altering the same factors. So here's the question, how would you guys solve this? Has anyone tried this kind of rp run before? Any essential mods you'd recommend for the experience?

Depending on how you are doing what you are doing and just your start as a forsworn option was coded, there are a couple things that might happen.

MoD might assume you are only in the player faction, and not remove the forsworn one Unbound adds to you (if it does).

You may simply have such a high bounty that the settings you are using for MoD do not counter it.

If you are not far enough away from the guards that they stop searching, or if they see you don the guard armor, they might see through the disguise.

My assumption is more 2 than 1 but I haven't actually tested on of the "start as a faction" options with MoD.

I don't have a bounty at all, so I think option 1 makes a lot of sense. As far as I know, Unbound adds the forsworn faction, so that could easily be where MoD is missing out. Though, I feel like that's something it should have accounted for. It would be interesting to see if you could be in the Stormcloak faction and disguise yourself as an imperial... Though it's possible that the author arbitrarily added checks for that sort of thing, and assumed the player wouldn't be part of the forsworn faction.

Not sure what the differences are between Unbound and Live Another Life, but they both have "start as a (faction)" options. LAL starts are not permanent though and seem to rely on placing you and the friendly faction in a temporary faction that ends after you leave the camp. The one exception is the Thalmor start lasts until you visit Helgen.

I think there are some console commands that will list which factions you are a member of, and you might see which ones you are in, or not in, perhaps checking between a normal type start and a faction start.
