deljason Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 I've managed to load a nif from a skyrim armor (a custom one, not a vanilla one) into Outfit Studio, I then was able to move the outfit down so it lines up with the body etc. However, the NIF that was created by Outfit Studio wont open in nifskope (gets an error and then it just displays the default body). I'm not really sure if this means the nif isn't valid or just nifskope cant read it. I also don't know how to tie a texture to the NIF so it will actually display the texture in game. (right now I get the big white/red exclamation if I equip the resulting armor) Am I even on the right track trying to convert it this way or is there something else I should be doing?
BringtheNoise Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 You missed a step or 12. 1. Load outfit into Outfit Studio (with Skyrim CBBE to FO4 CBBE preset). 2. Move Outfit to line up with FO4 CBBE, set base shape, flip slider to 100, and set base shape. 3. Export Meshes as an FBX format (highlight each one then at the top {not right click, but at the top} go to "Shape" and Export as FBX). Note: Do this for all parts of the outfit (as Outfit Studio will not save multiple meshes in a single FBX, yes ... Cell if you read this you should probably add that into OS ). 4. After all of the meshes are exported load a blank outfit (choose load outfit and leave it at the defaults and hit okay, this will clear out the skyrim nif and what not). 5. Import Each FBX file back into Outfit Studio (Set the texture paths and what not by right clicking them and choosing properties). 6 (Sloppy). Load the Default CBBE reference in OS (this is for Bodyslide 3 not 2 by the way). High light each mesh right click one of them and choose Copy Bone weights. 6 (Proper) Before Step 5 load the FBX files into Maya and use abWeightLifter to copy the FO4 CBBE bone weights into each mesh.. Then export them out of Maya and do step 5. Note: If you go with the proper method you can load each of the fbx files into maya and export them as a set. Note 2: make a copy of the default cbbe reference in an FBX format and keep it where ever you put your maya or max import stuff (be it a folder on your desktop or a specific location you work out of). Note 3: if you don't have maya setup a fake account on there page, list yourself as a student and get a 3 year license. Note 4: abWeightLifter can be found on Nightasy's FO4 Maya Tutorials (currently 22 vids that cover weight painting, building meshes from scratch and what not... that tutorial set can be used as a base to get you started on how to convert from skyrim to fo4 will little to no errors). https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLCW8BYqMR7Ei21WahZciSqRATOEfjw8H6 7. With the weights painted onto the outfit, the texture paths set, you can now go about building a FO4 Bodyslide package (create the nif file at the end of this point). The main steps you missed were. Export to FBX, Change the Bone Weights, and Import the FBX files back end and export as a FO4 nif. You probably have skyrim bones and nif setup still in the meshes (node names and what not) so yeah its crashing in nifskope.
deljason Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Cool, thanks. I did run into another odd one. When I open that converted nif back up in outfit studio I see that the CBBE body has its arms spread out wider than the outfit itself. It wasn't like that during the conversion process so I'm not sure what changed. I'm guessing the FO4 default body just has a different stance but I'm not sure how to 'pose' the body (if that is even possible) so can get things lined up. Edit: Looks like its the "CBBE" body shape that is posed different. It also impoted a "CBBE_Outfit" which is posed correctly. Just not sure what to do with them.
Vitriks Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 6 (Proper) Before Step 5 load the FBX files into Maya and use abWeightLifter to copy the FO4 CBBE bone weights into each mesh.. Then export them out of Maya and do step 5. I'm using this tutorial How exactly abWeightLifter works? (and what it does?) I can make it work only when I a copy mesh and transfer weight from original to copy. When I trying to copy weights from cbbe body to armor, it copy nothing. And when I perfectly follow that tutorial and export fbx to nif in outfit studio I get export error In game it looks like this Also removing unused influences (RUI) for some reason makes Maya lag if you doing one mesh after another.
zenna11 Posted March 25, 2016 Posted March 25, 2016 here its nice tutorial how import armor to FO4 http://www.loverslab.com/topic/57337-skyrim-armor-conversion-with-high-heels/
