Deathmaw Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I can't start this quest for some reason. Reading Lost Legends does nothing at all. The other quest start books for Aethirium wars and Red eagle work. Also following the College of Winterhold questline and doing saarthal. Jyrik does not have the Writ of sealing or the amulet fragment on him. Starting a newgame with my current mod setup does allow me to start the quest in that save so it isn't just a mod making edits. It appears to be an issue with the dunGauldursonQST script not firing. My load order is: http://pastebin.com/TuBLAAks

Leeeeeroy Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 i looked at the UESP page for this quest, and seens like you can start it by going on the cave where you bring the three amulets, you could try this as well, but if it doesn't work, i'm afraid you may only be able to start it trhough the console
swmas Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 "While Daynas Valen's Journal is a quest-related item, reading it before reading Lost Legends will cause the quest stages to stumble upon each other. First, it will render Lost Legends useless. Reading Lost Legends will then render all three writs of sealing and the Ancient Edict useless. If you read them in a different order, the quest will initiate but will not update. If you stumble upon this bug, the only solution is to find Daynas Valen in Folgunthur and read his notes. The quest will then start and proceed from quest stage 30."
Deathmaw Posted January 26, 2016 Author Posted January 26, 2016 Well I tried both options. Neither worked. The notes don't spawn on Daynas Valen's body. Reading his journal doesn't do anything. Going to reachwater rock also does nothing. It seems it is impossible for me to start this quest for some bizarre reason.
aljustineg Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 have you tried save script scalpel or save cleaner cause if the quest is running on your new game then its a save bloat problem or try to fight the one in ivarstead the draugr who wield the blackbow and loot its amulet
zaqwer Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 @Deathmaw have you managed to fix this issue? I'm asking because I got the same problem. I read the book and writs, nothing happened. Went to Folgunther and read the journal, didn't work either. Looted dead bodies, could get the dragon claw spawned. Used save cleaner and tried again, still didn't work. Nope, the Forbidden Legend quest just won't appear in my journal. I tried using console commands like startquest dunGauldursonQST and setstage dunGauldursonQST 6 (not sure if I did that right) - even these commands were not able to get the quest started, weird. Is there a way to force a quest to start?
