lordgdavid Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Well this is something new. Whenever I try to load my 5 latest saves I get ctd. BUT if I load a previous save, then load any of the latest 5 it works..... DAFUQ? I also had some problems with fnis lately but I am not sure if there is a connection. Has anyone else experience something like this ever?

Has anyone else experience something like this ever? It's a common bug that has been around since ages. A workaround is to enter something like "coc whiterun" in the mainmenu and let that load before you load your safe. Not sure if there was a fix for it. :/
volcanogod Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Yes, all the time. Skyrim can have strange issues with loading, and this technique of loading one file and then a different one often works. You will find many references in the forums to going 'coc qasmoke' from the console on the initial loading screen, which starts a dummy game in a dummy location. Let this dummy new game load all your mods, then load your real saved game. Sometimes, if you do this and re-save, you will not have to do it again. Sometimes, using a save cleaner will help. But usually, once your save file gets to a certain level of messiness (and you are running enough mods) you may well have to do this every time you run Skyrim. Under the hood, I imagine Bethesda was just very sloppy when they wrote the game-loading and esp-loading code all those years ago. There is little point trying to understand exactly why it happens with a particular save, or getting upset about it. At least, that has been my experience.
h38fh2mf Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 Sounds like you need to increase your initial heap size in SKSE.ini
