TTW question

so i finally broke and installed Tale of Two Wastelands... and everything was going swimmingly... but after it installed the main menu doesn't work, it only allows me to arrow to continue. doesn't let me click anything, hitting enter makes the "click" noise but no luck. have to ` qqq to leave. the main menu says "fallout 3" in blue/green and the rest of the buttons are orange, black screen otherwise. what gives? i can put load order if needed and any help will be greatly appreciated.

this is my load order... thinking about it i should have tested the clean run first, and installed mods as later... rather then copying my old NV folder to it. Was slightly drunk when i did it last night so im just gunna blame that... but the normal fallout nv ran beautifully... well as beautifully as it could i think.

For general troubleshooting

Copying mod files from the old F3 and FNV data folders and then pasting it into TTW worked for me. Don't forget to make the appropriate .ini changes, otherwise you'll get the FNV chargen quest instead of the F3 one.

When things don't work it's always best to start troubleshooting from the most basic config. Unload all plugins except those needed for vanilla TTW and try a clean start. I didn't try running TTW on an existing FNV save file, it might work, but clean starts are always best.

 

 

Based on what you wrote I can only make a wild guess that the TTW automatic installer screwed something up and made a kitchen-blender-type mess, so my only idea is to pull out your Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas backups and re-run the TTW setup. To be extra sure, install mods after you successfully launch the game.

Also, I would highly suggest you try starting out TTW with the least amount of mods as you can.  Use only those you " can't " live without.   Your load order for TTW is huge!

 

Be aware that some mods will actually cause a conflict with TTW, in doing so you may get an " infinite screen of nothingness " upon loading the game.   Main Menu not loading/showing is almost 90% a mod conflict.   To check it what one is not compatible with TTW your gonna have to select one or a few mods at a time and only have those mods and TTW's requirements checked.

 

Keep activating more mods until you run into your " no main menu " issue again, you will then have found your conflict.  Either delete that mod or search for a TTW conversion/fix for it.

 

And yes this will take time!
