Reinstalling everything

Recommended Posts

Hey there.

I currently have an almost clean Oblivion install (just installed some pre-made custom races and made some custom ones myself, deadly reflex 5 and cm companions), and xLovers has had a lot of changes since I installed it for the last time.

I'd like to know what would be the workflow to install things as of now, because, for example, I noticed LoversCreatures is now sort of included in the main package, but it lacks the dick meshes for the creatures, which are included in the latest LoversCreatures package. I can't see the quick installation sticky covering this.

Also, a bit off-topic, the links around the whole forum seem to redirect to the main page.

I've done several (successful) clean installs with lovers before and here's the advice I can offer to you. I've listed mods which are required to have or nice to have while experiencing xlovers. Mods in bold are required for certain lovers mods.

1. Install game/shimmering islands/official oblivion mods/patches first

2. Then install the unofficial oblivion patches (for main, shimmering isle, and for official oblivion mods)

3. Install secondary oblivion utilities: Oblivion Mod Manager, OBSE, Wyre Bash, and OBGE (these are the ones I'm currently using... BOSS has been raved up and down by other people, but I prefer to sort my load order manually)

---------Take a break and back up all of your files. Copy your Bethesda Softworks folder and archive it in case something goes horribly wrong so you don't have to go back and reinstall everything. Also, from here on out, every time you install something new, check it out in game and see if it behaves the way you expect it to. ---------

4. Install your graphic replacement mods (MBP, MBP++, MBP x117, XEO, QTP3, BC...etc) - this is most likely the hardest step to do properly!

----------Backup your files------------

5. Install BBB and nude Mods: Skeletons/SetBody/DMRA clothing...etc

----------Backup your files------------

6. Install Animations Replacers (pretty woman, some sort of animation mapping etc)

----------Backup your files------------

7. Install other mods (Companions, HUD mods, combat mods etc.)

----------Backup your files------------

8. Install Lovers

a. Lovers Resource Pack and Lovers PK Base Package

b. LoverRaperS

c. Lovers Joburg

d. Lovers Adult Play SSP Plus

e. Lovers Creature

f. New and improved animation project

g. Lovers True Crime Complete

h. Lovers Pay Bandit

i. LoversTomagoClub

j. LoversCrowningIsle

k. LoversBitch

If you install the xlovers mods in this order, you should be able to overwrite with impunity (especially since you backed everything up right?). Also, I've just listed what I consider to be the main lovers mods (of those that I've tried so far).

There are various smaller mods which are very helpful and immersive such as lovers light, and lovers pay bandit. The interference of these are minor... Joburg can also be replaced with Lovers Land, though Lovers Land has rather large issues with compatibility of many mods.

As for load order, follow the sticky that Ashal made. I haven't tried the new BOSS loader order...but BOSS has traumatized me in the past (twice), so I just move things around until they click. But common sense helps here. If you are using a mod that depends on, or modifies a previous mod, it should probably be lower on the list. Also, most lovers mods will tell have a readme or directions on where to put it. Finally, you can find very good load orders on the site as reference...just use the search. A lot of the time, load order won't even matter.

Many mods have to be re-uploaded because of the site upgrade. They will be back soon - just be patient. If you click a link and it directs you to the front page, it is because of that. Also, if you post what mod you are looking for, there's a chance someone has it and can help you out.

Finally, I make far more backup Bethesda Softworks folders then mentioned here. For example, I backup before installing XEO because that mod is prone to mess things. I would encourage you to do the same: make a backup whenever you install any large and unwieldy mod (like deadly reflex). Also, I backup my files before trying any new lovers mod that I have no experience with. I've learned the hard way, that 10-15 minutes of copy pasta is much better then 2-3 hours of reinstalling mods. Furthermore, if you don't delete your backups, you've always got different configurations of mods to play around with so you can figure which mod is causing the issue.

I hope this helps. Also, any super users...feel free to chime in. I'm more of a trial and error approach kind of guy. I'm sure there's an easier and much more intelligent way to make sure everything works properly.

That wall of text is something you can build upon (bad pun intended).

Thank you many times HoroBoro, I am reinstalling Oblivion from ground up right now and this is just what I need.

Nice, thanks for the install order, although I already know how race mods work from head to toes, thanks to messing with them for so long now :P

I guess every other additional mod would go after the lower ones in the load order, right (like, for example, lovers bitch)?.

For load order, download Donkey's LoversStupidNPC translation (it's a good mod too, but you don't have to install it). http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=5

In the zip file, there's: Loadorder Lovers with pk files. It is very illustrative, has notes, and has literally every translated Lovers mod in existence that I know of. I've been doing my load order based off of this, and I have no errors at all (except a few bugged eyes with Xeo and LoversCrowningIsle that I can patch up).

Thanks HoroBoro, your post will help me immensely as I'm also trying to install these mods through a clean slate. I'm using the Steam version of Oblivion, which includes all the DLCs and stuff already, and I was under the impression that it's automatically patched up to the latest version. Do I still need to install these "unofficial" patches?

EDIT: My game shows that it's currently at version 1.2.0416

Ok, here's the thing. Today I installed several Lovers Mod, and I have no stability problems at all. However, I think I do have animation problems.

Aren't creatures not summoned by your character supossed to be able to rape your character and trigger the animation linked to that creature?

Today I entered a cave, there was a troll, it "raped" my char, but the animation did not trigger, only the sounds, and the character was just standing there, the same for the troll. I guess I got "trolled".

Also, why are some of the creatures you summon friendly to your character or just not aggresive at all (Zombie)? Does it have anything to do with cheating Personality to 255? The only way to provoke them is by attacking them, and even then, creatures like the Horse just runs away, and the Rape spell doesn't work on it. And was the Demonic Dog's animation changed?

I installed my mods in the order mentioned by HoroBoro, and my Load Order is automatically sorted by BOSS with the MasterList available in this site (modified to support more lovers plugins). Also I downloaded them from here. Here's a pic of my Load Order. Some of these you might not know are just Race mods I created, so I really doubt they have anything to do.

Hi Roy,

It's strange that the troll animation isn't working for you. Do you have these files?

http://www.mediafire.com/?bhaew73cg1m3p2k

Also in regards to Zombies being non-aggressive, I do believe that, for some reason, when your charm is too high, Zombies stop being aggressive. I don't remember the breaking point, but I remember it was less then 100 personality. For my new characters, the zombies find her manners crude enough not to be disgusting.

Edit: Nevermind - more then 100 - http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Personality.

Finally, I believe it's part of the original oblivion system that horses and deer and such run away if they are set hostile to you. I'm not sure how to set them so that they'll actually attack you... Perhaps someone else can help you with that.

Edit: Nevermind - this was bothering me too so I did a quick edit on lovers creatures so that lovers creature horses, deer, and sheep are more confident/aggressive. Here's the file: http://www.mediafire.com/?qiz5vp4k1an9b5l

Is there something odd about the Demonic Dog?

Also, here is my load order - doubt it'll help, but meh why not lol.

What about loversbitch?

Well...I've got it installed and it seems to be working, but I didn't really want to write it in as I haven't tested it extensively. Also, it's 0.5b - which tells me that it's more or less in Beta. I feel the same way about lots of other mods that are up like boxing, player slave, and stupidnpc.

Of course that doesn't make these bad mods - I run it right now, in fact you will find many of them in my load list XD. And it does add a lot to the game, so I've put it in there.

Also, in the same vein, I haven't put PK extender in there because it might take a bit of tweaking to get everything working exactly the way you want it.

I assume if you're going to install these things, you pretty much know your way around lovers, and won't need much help installing things.

Though I think these should be at the end of the install order if you do choose to install it.

Posted

I did have the troll animations. I can test again in a moment to see if it works.

But, actually, wasn't lovers creatures integrated in the main mod? Would the problem be having loverscreatures.esp activated?

Posted

I think you might be confusing what Lovers creature does. It is just a creature summon spell.

Without lover creatures, normal animals will still be able to rape you, as long as you have the base lovers package and raper.

If you're asking if normal creatures are replaced with the lovers creatures: the answer to that question is no.

Posted

Yes, I was confused, thank you. Back when the mod was a disasterous lot of spells I would have disabled it knowing that, good thing they reduced all of them to a single spell that opens a dialog box with options. However, these monsters (summoned by my character) don't seem to disappear when killed. Wouldn't that cause savegame bloating?

Yesterday I could confirm animations ARE working, maybe the whole troll thing was random, my character got raped by a timber wolf and the animations were pretty variated compared to what I had in my first install of Oblivion. Also now when my character gets raped, the male isn't like 4 meters away horizontaly from my character, which is great because I have nfc of why it happened in my first install.

Another problem I had before, was that the xLover's White Mushrom and purple-starfish-like creatures used to randomly appear after any sex situation ocurred. This seems to be gone too, that's great.

I only have ONE animation that doesn't seem to be working correctly, the male (or the female?) is 180° from the female. I haven't seen which animation number it is, I'm gonna have to check if I have the oportunity. Afterwards I'll check Lovers Bitch and Player Slave, they sound like fun.

One last thing, do you have any link to latest PayBandit, and to whatever let's you pay Inns with pleasure? I don't seem to have the last, and the first one, the link in the downloads section is dead.

Thanks for your help so far.

Sort of. You can definitely have more than just MBP. But, if you do install MBP remember that it is in and of itself a vanilla race overhaul mod, so any other mods of the same kind will be overwritten. Ironically enough, XEO overwrites vanilla races as well in the actual game world, but at least it still gives you the option for their original look during character creation mode. So what usually ends up happening is that people recommend you install MBP first, then MBP ++ (an expanded version of it), then MBP Chocolate Elves (if you like Chocolate Elf races, plus this is a "base" mod for future Chocolate Elf tweaks anyway), followed by Xeo packs. Becareful of installing Xeo as there are multiple versions and there's a specific order in which you should install them.

HGEC doesn't overhaul the faces of the races but rather changes how the races' bodies look, so you can give them bigger breasts or larger legs for women, and if I'm not mistaken it does have its own set of textures as well. Because quite a number of mods assume the player is using HGEC bodies for women, it's kind of beneficial to install HGEC as one of your primary mods. But of course, you have a choice and you're not forced to use it.

Assuming you installed via omod, deactivate the omod (don't delete it), extract all the mifle from MBP and MBP++ and MBP++ chocolate elves. Manually install them to your oblivion/data folder. Go back to OBMM and reactivate the MBP and MBP++ omods. When it throws the warning that it need to overwrite files, hold ctrl and click yes. This will overwrite all the files you just installed manually but it sounds like omod installation had a few files missing. also, double check you have all the necessary requirements to run MBP. I also recommend downloading and installing XEOrc4. This is a race / hairs / eyes pack, its not the beautification part of xeo. It should also help fill in your missing files.

Posted

i did not install via omod i just downloaded the zip and unzipped the "data" map with the rest and overwrited it and then i checked the MBP.esp and the other ones.

Posted

Depending on how you went about installing these as in order you could have replaced files needed by certain mods, or sometimes the files being extracted never make it to the proper destination. If installing manually I always recommend to go 1 step past the data folder, (i.e. your installing meshes, open the files you just extracted from the archive you want to add, open its data folder, then open its meshes folder, now in a 2nd window open oblivion/data/meshes... copy the contents of the archive meshes folder to the oblivion/data/meshes folder. This makes sure the files get to where they need to be. also you are only prompted XX amount of times to overwrite so its easier to pay attention to what your actually overwriting.

I really recommend installing via omod, as if you have somehow messed up your data folder by installing manually, you either have to pick each added file out one by one for the broken mod, or wipe it all and start over. (unless you have made a back up of your CLEAN, no mods, oblivion/data folder. then simply delete the messed up one and replace it with the saved backup.
