KikiDelivery Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 Not really sure if this is the right section, anyway I've decided recently to start making animations for Skyrim, however I have come across one problem, The videos and threads I've seen says that one of the requirements for 3DS Max is the Havok Content Tools. I visited the link, but unfortunately they are no longer providing the tool free for download... Is there an alternative method of importing animations to Skyrim besides the tool? I'm using 3Ds Max 2010 btw.
BringtheNoise Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 It is a bit of a pain in the ass but... You can use the HKXCMD tool to turn a Skyrim HKX file into a KF file (note this tool is a command line program). Once the file type is turned into a KF animation you can load it into 3d Max (first load the skeleton, then the body, then the KF). You can then edit each frame of the KF file and export it out then use the HKXCMD tool to convert it from KF back to HKX. Tool: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1797/? KF support is part of the Nif import export package for 3D max so if you have the plugin already installed you will not need anything else to import a kf file. The pain in the ass part is configuring a bat file with the correct names for the hkx files you want to convert (damn sure wish there was a gui add on for that tool).
KikiDelivery Posted December 27, 2015 Author Posted December 27, 2015 Thanks so much BringTheNoise! You've given me hope. Will definitely check it out!! Sure wish I made it in time to give that Havok tool a run, oh well, anything is better than nothing. Thanks again.
KikiDelivery Posted December 29, 2015 Author Posted December 29, 2015 I finally got to import animations, however now I'm having problems exporting animations. I've been following this tutorial: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Working_with_animations_in_Skyrim especially the settings, but I still get an empty kf file. I've tried to simply import a vanilla animation, and export it back without any edits, made sure the note tags are still there, and followed the preferred settings, but I still get the same result, a bad empty kf file. I heard that its a problem with 3DS Max, is there any workaround to get a working exported kf file?
KikiDelivery Posted December 30, 2015 Author Posted December 30, 2015 Switching between different niftools plugin between Figment and Wix, and going through each version didn't solve the issue. I'm using 3DS Max 2010 32-bit.
