shashou Posted December 26, 2015 Posted December 26, 2015 So now that it's gone free to play... anyone interested in making a nude mod for it? Maybe, maybe not... I'm just surprised I haven't seen one around the internet so far.
GhegheJhejhe Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 The problem with GW2 and I've talked to people in the decomp and datamining projects for it. Is that each body variation and skin type has it's own textures, A-Net didn't design it like say, Skyrim or another sensible game, where each race has only a single 3d model, texture, normal, and then various detail maps stuck to it. They designed each race variation as it's own entity with it's own meshes, textures and normals, and details attached to it. I means each one looks unique and incredible(Seriously check out the sylvari), but it makes projects to modify them hard. Because you're looking at modifying at minimum, 5*10*4(3d asset, texture asset, normal asset, and a detail map) files, assuming each race only has 10 variations. It's why they have so much trouble adding new armor sets, especially for the beast races in the game. Add in that model injection(Because PVP is hit box based in certain places) is checked at launch, and you have a recipe for something that not necessarily impossible, but something that probably won't happen.
Nia_ Posted December 27, 2015 Posted December 27, 2015 A while back(as, a long while back), i made some for GW2. The "problem" with these is that they are based on memory replacing. Which means * they are baked per identical looking characters * they can potentially be seen as 3rd party software. The software used to bring these simple texture replacings into the game was uMod at that time. uMod had a few pretty heavy flaws. The most stable(performance-wise) version misplaced a lot of textures, making the game unplayable. The most "recent" version had a lot of performance issues. I think the developer abandoned uMod about 3 Years ago. By now - in theory - would have the knowledge to fix these issues and increase the performance, but I'm pretty short of time. So if there is anyone with strong C++ modeling and coding abilities and some free time, that person should probably give it a go. Soo, to conclude it, mods in GW2 can happen, you can do them, but they are not general like those in Skyrim, and have to be made per character, which is a lot of effort. But the results can be pretty fun. Some Images: ~Nia
Coil Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Both of the existed bugs that allowed players to see their character nude (tho with anatomy of a barbie doll) is fixed ATM. And about third-party nude-mods, well... Quote from ArenaNet's employee, taken from old tread on Reddit: “Basically, anything that touches the game client in any fashion, including but not limited to visuals, overlays, controls, inputs, outputs, automation, sounds, or play experience is going to be referred to as a mod. The Guild Wars 2 software package is meant to be delivered and used AS-IS, with zero flexibility for the end user. If your script changes anything about the game itself, how it’s displayed, or how it’s played, then it’s forbidden 3rd-party software.” It means that every smallest change that was been made, and is not related to the game client's customization options, is a bannable haxxx (even progaming keybaord and mouses are forbidden by that logic, as well as custom settings of graphics through software like SweetFX), and ANet loves to ban people for that kind of activity. So, forecast for a nudity in GW2 is pretty bad - all we can do is to fap on our norn/sylvari/human girls in underwear and do some ERP.
Nia_ Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 I'll give this a little push as there are some news! Over at reddit, someone promoted a tool he made for DirectX9(I think it's limited to this) Games/Applications, that works similar to uMod. Only that this tools interacts with DX Rendering Pipeline in a way that allows you to change not only textures, but geometory, too. I hadn't had the chance to take a close look at it's source code, so I'm not sure what exactly it changes, but the results are interesting. Sadly, I don't have much time - or the knowledge in blender - to make some edits myself, but if there are still people out here interested in Guild Wars 2 modding, this could be your go-to tool. foxminoso Posted October 12, 2016 Posted October 12, 2016 so if i understand well, there is no adult mod for gw2 for now ? that shame!
mundordin Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1f0467/naked_character_preview/https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2fyj6g/ladies_and_gentlemen_i_give_you_the_naked_code/ but of course only in previews
Dark Thoughts Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 The reason you pushed this is because of a bug the game had years ago that had been fixed shortly after anyway?
