Brucealso Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 The no auto update for game doesnt work steam can still update you whether you want to update or not...heres the statement from Steam Support. Thank you for contacting Steam Support. The option to disable automatic updates does not disable the requirement for Steam to install the latest updates before launching your game. This option will only allow you to delay the update until you next choose to launch the game. There are no options for running Steam games without all necessary updates. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
gregathit Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Yea, after the backwards flying patch for skyrim, I opened a ticket with Steam complaining about the auto update. That was the exact response I got as well. Moral of the story is if you DON'T want Steam to update, then you have to put it into "offline" mode. After rolling back the backward flying dragon patches damage, I left steam offline mode until like 4th patch was out and no one was complaining about it.
bradleyh Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 You can take the current Update.esm and Update.BSA and turn them into a BAIN package to be able to play if the latest patch is causing problems. I wish I would have done this with the 1.4 patch.
Brucealso Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 Well im on a data cap internet service and once the update started you cannot play game till its finished and the update would of costed me extra dollars to finish downloading. I have to pay 10 bucks for every gig over my data cap and i usually do play offline but i went online with steam to check something and BAM it all started.
