Sacremas Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 For those of us less familiar with Boston (especailly those who have never been over the great pond), this video will probably be interesting to you, comparing in-game locations with their real-life counterparts.
Guest endgameaddiction Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 That's one of the things that I liked about Fallout 3. I've never been to Washington, nor have I been to Boston, but historical artifacts are always nice references. Even if could of been a time of depression. I mainly look at what the world used to be, an innovating modern civilization that with the snap of a finger it could all be perished. Or nearly perished. And when looking upon these artifacts, it reminds you that there is still faith and that possible chance of restoration in humanity. Something I never got in New Vegas. I'm certain I will enjoy Fallout 4 because of that as I did with Fallout 3.
Sural Argonus Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Say what you will about the Fallout crews. They do their research. They take real world locations and fit them into the story. They did it with 3, NV and now 4. It was awesome.
snafoofoo Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 There are things in the game that are references similar to the CIT / MIT renaming. Fallon's is a reference to Filene's / Filene's Basement which was a great discount clothing store next to Chinatown. The Combat Zone is a reference to an area of boston as well. The map is incredibly compressed though. Salem's Lighthouse is off imensely in terms of map layout. There are so many cultural / historic sites in the towns they reference I imagine it was hard to choose. Parson's is a reference to Danvers State Mental institution I believe, gwinnett is Sam Adams. I am impressed at all the references they made. I had hoped Cambridge would have references to some of its famous residents like Click and Clack or Julia Child.
Halstrom Posted December 15, 2015 Posted December 15, 2015 Cool, I'd like to also see one on places that were changed dramatically too
Arhon Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 Awesome Sacremas thanks for showing me that, I did not know about it.
