Paladin Danse has gone missing!

Whenever I help the settlers at the slog, it says "Danse liked that" on the top-right of the screen, and I very clearly remember sending him to the slog after obtaining another follower.

 

I searched all around the slog and Danse is absolutely nowhere to be found.

 

Please help me!

Build a bell in slog and ring it, it will bring all the NPCs in the area to you, and that includes all companions. So if Danse is in Slog, he will show up eventually (they take their sweet time to come to the bell)

Build a doghouse, well, it works with Dogmeat...

 

...or, as Dalamar suggested, build a bell and use that or assign him to a particular bed for his use.

Did you check the underside of Elder Maxson's boots?

 

There comes a point in a certain quest line where Danse goes into hiding. So seriously, check with Elder Maxson.

 

There are several points where companions run off to do their own thing and the game is terrible at letting the player know, leaving them with the mystery of the disappearing companion.

Elder Maxson says that he's busy and I can't talk to him.

 

I rang the bell at the slog but Danse was nowhere to be found.

 

Although it did say "Danse liked that" when I offered to help out with a settler quest at the slog.

 

I even enabled noclip to check if he had somewhere clipped beneath the map, which he did not.

Maybe if you know his Ref ID you could use "PlaceAtMe" in the console to plop him right at your feet. I would save first though. It might create a doppelganger, it might be he's 'disappeared' for a reason you haven't figured out yet, and that might break something.

 

...maybe I should make a quest that just adds tracking markers to all companions to make them easier to find.
