Darkening Demise Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 Is it really limited as Skyrim was and all other past games? Only using a few bits of memory before crashing causing mods and the game itself to conflict with massive amounts of issues?
leatherliz Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 It uses over 3Gb of RAM on my computer right out of the box, if that's any indication.
Galacticat42 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Fallout 4 is a 64 bit game. Meaning it will use over the 3.5gb limit of 32 bit games. I can guarantee you right now that Bethesda will not be making a 32 bit version of this game to be run on 32 bit computers. The game is simply too large and will be far too time-consuming to convert it with little to no reward. If you have a an old 32 bit computer, I would recommend purchasing or constructing a new computer as everyone is making the jump. This means that 32bit machines will not be supported in a few short years. As it is currently, about 90% of gamers have 64 bit machines now which allows for a streamline of gaming technology.
Kaz Aanh Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 64 or not. As long as it uses gamebryo engine there will always be some problems.
Sacremas Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Actually Fallout 4 is rarely using as much memory as it could;
Ramses Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 The "Creation Engine", which is what Fallout 4 sits on, is a rehash of the gamebryo engine. It's a 32bit core with a 64bit layer. It can/will use +3GB of RAM but is so poorly coded, most of the resources available to a PC are used for error correction. Much the same way GPU drives are *packed* with redundancies for compatibility, any game that uses Beth's engine is always going to fail. Fallout 4 is no different from any other Bethesda product - release a turd, let the modders polish it.
