CNKTHoward Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 I just had Afterburner running whilst playing and even without any frame limiting (ENB, vsync etc.) my FPS dropped from 60+ to 40 in Markarth when looking into certain directions. Neither GPU, VRAM, CPU nor RAM were at its maximums... Workload was around 40% only then. Does anyone have an idea how this is possible or how to fix it? If you need more info please tell me
sidfu Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 i have that happen sometimes. its normaly when your a script causes a error. the bad thing if u save during it it will stay that way. ive found exiting game and loading a save before it started fixes it. for me it happens randomly somtimes it might happen oftgen then somtimes not for a good 20hours of play. best way to fix itg is to have your log on and check your log if a error keeps repeating often find the mod and see whats wrong with it.
CNKTHoward Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 I guess you are right (although I just started a new game...) Papyrus is spammed with: "Error: Unable to bind script FloraHarvestScript to (000C92A4) because their base types do not match" edit: I deactivated "Complete Cooking and Alchemy Overhaul" and the script warnings are gone. It didn't change anything FPS related though... Without ENB enabled (effects) I even get an additional 10 FPS drop.
sidfu Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 best bid if u gonna play with more than a lilght script load is to make sure to have a auto save mod. the games auto save feature causes alot of crashes also. i use a auto save mod and have all the ingame saves off ande use it. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34842/? is the one i use as has lots of options to set up and itsnt o hard on system. just make sure to have it set to incremental save as the auto ssave tends to take alot longer. did u try loading a save before the fps droped? also did u have the fps drop randomly after u zoned orr was it from mthe start? try loading a save from before he fps drop happen.
CNKTHoward Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 I created a new game with alternate start and "New Beginnings -- Live Another Life Extension" (not listing other mods) and spawned at the temple of dibella in markarth. Then I exited the temple and looked towards the silver mines - FPS drop. I already tried disabled city overhaul mods... It's just peculiar why I have a FPS drop if neither of my system components are at 100%... Certainly the engine has some limitations, but I don't run a script heavy game :/
sidfu Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 try doing a start somewhere else its possible3 the sudden population of the area might be causing the problem. also if u removed that mod did u redo your bashed batch? if still is low i would try if ther no errros to remove graphic over haul mods to see if maybe u overloading your vid card. remember 4k reso textures will cose u a good 10times more performance than a 1k or 2k. for me i orginaly used 4k ttextgure pack for the terrain and such. when i switched to 2k it gave me 10fps more and down to 1k gave me 15fps over the 4k. also had less crashes. if inside your fps is 50-60 then outside is crap with no errors in your log repeating it normally means time to drop the textures down. did this start recently? have u just changed enb? what enb is it? have u changed any other mods since last played with no problems?
CNKTHoward Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 I can't tell when it started 'cause I lately don't really play the game (for a longer period of time). I use mostly 2k textures (only 4k stuff I use is player character related). I'm guessing that this has to do with engine limitations... be it light sources or actors - I don't really know. But I just tried a complete new game with only alternate start installed (I deactivated all other mods, including unofficial patches and used the original ini files instead of modified ones) - it's still performing very badly in some areas (markarth f.e.). I did not change ENB, but I'm using NLA.
sidfu Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 try starting with nothing but the enb and see if its that way. if it is tghen its the enb causeing it. which enb is it? most enb can be heavy on some system than others so might have to try differnt enb if it wind up the enb. the 2 enb i found thats best are real vision and vivian enb. vivian enb also is rather light weight depending on options u use and it also allows u to combine weeather mods to work together. also do u use Mod organizer? if notg i would start useing now since u between starting games and mod organizer can be a pain to sest up but once setup makes run ning the game easy as your skyrim directory stays clean makes it easy to trouble shoot.
yatol Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 my FPS dropped from 60+ to 40 in Markarth when looking into certain directions. Neither GPU, VRAM, CPU nor RAM were at its maximums... Workload was around 40% only then. skyrim is on a ssd? a is 1go of textures, if you have more than 1go vram, no problem you turn around b is 900 mo of textures, 150 are not in a c is 1100 mo of textures, 200 are not in a d is 700 mo of textures, 50 are not in a etc etc when there is too much textures swapping for your config, gpu have to wait for those textures to get in the vram if you don't have enought vram, it will render them from your ram, that is much slower unzip all your bsa load smco on all textures folders then textures optimiser (it don't find the uncompressed a8nsomething textures, but smco don't add mipmaps, so you need both) doing that have an impact on fps too backup harddrive died, start some cleaning after unzipping everything again found 600 mo of tga in the new bsas, useless crap when those bsa will be redone, they will be less than 37 go, because bsa kill doubles if you have 15 npc that use sg in a bsa, 14 of them will load their textures from the first one that use sg this reduce vram usage when you have more than one to render less vram usage = more fps less things to load = you can load more things before hitting your config limit problem is you can only put 2 go in a bsa it's because of that all facegendata are put in meshface, all facegentint are put in textface, all hairs are put in texthair keeping textactors folder under 2 go is hard
CNKTHoward Posted November 2, 2015 Author Posted November 2, 2015 Yes it's on a SSD. I get the FPS drop when standing still though, so loading textures can't be the problem I guess :/ The only .bsa I have are the original skyrim one's, everything else is unpacked. I also optimized those textures...
yatol Posted November 2, 2015 Posted November 2, 2015 so loading textures can't be the problem I guess :/ you underestimate npc mods
