DickTracy Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I have decided to try my hand at making a follower, following a tutorial by CPU and so far so good. However, after adding facegen data I have discovered an odd bug in regards to the face (If this in fact a bug and not a screwup). The forehead is red and there appears to be a weird tattoo on the right side of her face that I did not put there. If anyone knows what the problem is, please enlighten me so I can soldier on with making this follower. This will of course be my first so when it is finished, please be gentle btw, I have no idea how to upload pictures to show you so if someone could enlighten me on how to do that as well I would appreciate it
DickTracy Posted October 28, 2015 Author Posted October 28, 2015 UPDATE: I have tried to continue on and see if this resolves itself, and I have tried to add hair to my follower. For some reason there are red lines on top of my characters head, along with this weird tattoo, and the hair will not attach to the head. For some reason it is floating waaaaaay above her head.
Guest Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Check if the hair you are using is some sort of HDT one. For custom hair, the preview in CK gives often wrong results. Try it in game, and check if it solves. And thanks for appreciating my tutorial.

Yep, those are CK bugs. To fix the makeup you need to temporarily rename the data\textures\actors\character\character assets\tintmasks folder while you're in the CK, and remember to change it back when you're done. If that doesn't work, a sure-proof way to resolve it is to turn off the individual makeup overlays that's causing the issue, but obviously you can't use makeup that way so it may not be ideal. And I can confirm most 3rd party hairs won't show up properly on the face display and appear way above the head. If you select the full display it should appear as it will in-game, at least in my experience.

I have been trying to sort this out but I am having difficulty making sense of your tutorial at this point (I may in fact be dumber than a rock :/ ). I have chosen the hair I like (From Apachii hair seeing as KS hairdo's esp seems to have vanished from being able to be loaded) and yes in fullscreen the hair looks fine. My only issue is the dependancy with Apachii and trying to make it not need it. I have searched for the hair in object ID and I have renamed it and copied it as instructed. From this point on I cannot make sense of anything (The pictures are not much use because they are heavily pixelated so you cannot read a thing) so I have to go via what has been typed. 1) Give to it a name: Ayita Hair 2) Copy the model and the tri file ( the model is the actual mesh, the tri file is used to maintain the correct distance from the hair to the head) 3) Update the extra parts. First of all, I already renamed it before it was typed a second time so why the hell do I need to do it again? Secondly, copy what? Do I find the folder where these files are and copy the files, then change the location to another folder and select those files from the new location? And finally....Extra parts? Where in the bloody hell have we covered this up until now? Have you just jumped ahead a few steps and not realised? Have I missed some steps??? bloody hell my head is aching now lol. Please lend me a hand at making sense of this because I am losing it here . UPDATE: I have tried to continue on and see if this resolves itself, and I have tried to add hair to my follower. Guest Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Hi. When you rename an object in CK, CK asks if you want to create a copy (Yes) or rename the form (No.) It is enough that you click on Yes when you rename the object. On your copied object, you will find some NIFs (at least one) referenced in the page. If the esp that is providing them has "Loose files" then just copy the NIF file (the path and the name are in the editor window of the hair) and place it in your own folder (inside meshes). Then edit again the head part, and browse your object. Warning because inside the NIF file there will be a reference to a texture (also more than one) that you have to edit with NIFSkope. (And you have to copy the .dds files too in your folder under Textures.) If the original ESP is packed (so it contains a BSA file only) then you first have to unpack the BSA with a tool like BSAOpt.

Now can you try that again and this time, try explaining it to someone who has never done this before and has very limited knowledge of it? Pretty please with sugar on top?
Guest Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 I will. But not now, because I cannot run CK here, so I cannot do screenshots to better explain.
DickTracy Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 I will. But not now, because I cannot run CK here, so I cannot do screenshots to better explain. I would very much appreciate it. I guess I will call it a night then and get some sleep. This is really giving me a headache, and I know I have a whole lot of work ahead of me (This is not even mine I am making, this is your succubus so I can see what it is like to actually make a follower, and so far I hate it lol). Been at this about about 6 hours + already just trying to make sense of all this lol. Thanks again anyway
