IMR1fley Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 It's been about 6 months since I played Skyrim. That was the last time I edited my mods until about a week ago. Fast forward to yesterday. I started playing again a few days ago. All of a sudden, the game crashed for no reason. This happens occasionally, so it's no big deal. I try to open Mod Organizer, and I get an error saying that there's no modlist.txt file. I shrug, just make a new one from scratch and open MO again. I find that all my mods have been removed/disabled, and they are out of order. I didn't have a backup, and now for some reason, all my saves are gone as well. The issue would then repeat itself. The .txt file would go missing, and all the mods would reset. I believe I fixed the issue. From what I can tell, my computer was dangerously low on memory, and every time MO would update/save a mod load order, it would delete the modlist.txt, then make another one. The low memory prevented this, and that caused the issue. That's my THEORY. I cleaned out my computer and the issue hasn't come up again, so I think it's safe to guess that, though if anyone could confirm that, it'd be nice. However, my primary issue it this: I have NO idea what order my mods were really in. I've managed to organize it to a point where the game won't crash on startup or load, and most of the mods work to some extent. However, I'm certain many don't work, and are in improper order. For example, when I try to trigger a Player on NPC scene, I can't control anything, it's stuck in a doggystyle position, never changes, never progresses, and my character can move/ walk around. When that happens, the NPC teleports directly in front of my character, who continues to make the sounds, but then stops the motions and starts walking around. Now, I am using a controller, and that may be an issue, but I'm sure there are other things that aren't working. Could you please look through my current lists, and tell me if you see anything wrong, mission, or out of order? It's been so long since I set my mods up, I have no idea where to start on setting it back up. This is why I need help. I'll throw in my Plugin order as well, just in case. Tepi Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Official DLCs should be first ones to load after skyrim.esm. Also you you should probably install unofficial patches as those are pretty much mandatory for everything to work correctly. And use LOOT. To me that load order looks like it isn't ran through LOOT. For the modlist order, check conflicts tab, especially if there is conflicting scripts and adjust accordingly.

I use Mod Organizer, but I'm not sure what LOOT is. What is it, and how do I find it? When I filter the conflicts, I see the the files that overwrite/are overwritten, but my problem is it's difficult for me to remember which ones need to overwrite, need to be overwritten, and both. How do I check for conflicting scripts?
Tepi Posted October 5, 2015 Posted October 5, 2015 Oh man, bit of a newbie are we? Well, no worries. Here's a link for UOSP http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/19/? and in its description you can find links for dlc patches. As for LOOT it's a program that sorts the load order for you, and is mostly correct. https://loot.github.io/ When you open a mod by double-clicking (or right-click -> Information) it in MO you see the conflicts tab. In there you can see what files get overwritten by what. And scripts are files that end with ".pex". I'd suggest you to watch some videos for Mod Organizer as it's extremely powerful tool when you're familiar with it. Here's a very good video series by Gopher: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLE7DlYarj-DcLS9LyjEqOJwFUQIIQewcK For general guide and tips there's many tutorials all around but Anatriax's guide here on LL is a good one, even if a bit long: http://www.loverslab.com/topic/47360-anatriaxs-guide-to-an-immersive-skyrim/ There's no need to do everything as mentioned in the guide but you should get the idea what to do and what to avoid.
visby Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 First thing to note is that MO's Mod list file is in reverse order. So that the files on the bottom of the Mod list are really at the top. The plug in's file however is in it's correct order meaning the top is the top and the bottom is the bottom. You need to move XP32 skeleton file from near the top of your mod list all the way to the bottom. LOOT is built into MO now and all you need to do is hit the Sort button. After sorting you will want to check the error symbol in the upper right of MO and take care of any messages it has. MO will try to fix any mod install order issues if you let it.
