demack Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 You know I been a gamer all my life. All 61 years of it. I have this vision of a interactive virtual world but a vision without someone else to help me along is just a vision. IS it so bad to want something to interact with that is not grind, lead by the nose through a maze of killing? Am I the only one that wants this? Well, if that the case it is time to just delete all games, shut of the internet and go away. Lately I just been so distanced by games in general and having a bad attitude has alienated me from some of my favorite boards. Hell the people on MMORPG.COM won't even look at my work anymore because I was blaming them for the problems getting my game developed. they slammed the work and called it tits and ass shots instead of seeing the beauty of the system which was beyond anything out there in customization. I know it was bad thing to do but my attitude is just shit anymore. Skyrim is a cool game but it just has something lacking. I guess it is the interface and the lack of others being in the same world. MMORPGS just suck so bad I can't even play one anymore. So anyway I sat down and gave it a lot of thought as to what would be the really neat thing to do but the opposition has been just down right depressing. Can't seem to get anyone interested in anything I do so must be me I guess. I have skills with code because I been programming for 36 years (I am rusty beings I been out of the business professionally for 20 year but I can pick up any engine and write something useable) but I don't have any artistic abilities. I started this project BUT I may just quit programming all together. Anyway, Suppose there was a multi-player version of Skyrim (well sort of based on the same theme but not directly related or based on something else for that matter) suppose it has a kind of mall where people can upload there art and sell it to others to wear and use. Suppose this world is more adult and has stronger sexual content, much more graphic violence but has adventuring without a level just go where ever you want and be with the people on your server (or play it solo as a single player game) with the master server selling content to those that want to say .. dress up, carry a neat looking sword (the code in crafting the runes put in the weapon keep it within the balance) Suppose that you could build your own city, house, farm or just roam around. Suppose you could craft anything and everything like furniture, house decorations and those things that are sold by the user base. Suppose you could script a scene and make a theatrical video from your very own direction. I took some assets and made a character creator. Sorry I didn't ask for permission guys but it is hidden and for my own use. This is a work f 3 months including getting it functional in code and art. https://youtu.be/Ungr1mQSHv0 https://youtu.be/e0YFGE7pZEM I thought about interaction and came up with a text to lip interface. It is rather rusty but I just completed today for a test run. It needs to be tuned, cleaned up and get some animations. https://youtu.be/5gcDQEAqwIQ Does anyone understand my vision or am I just a fucking nut case?
Yuni Posted October 4, 2015 Posted October 4, 2015 Uhm, I don't mean to sound like an arse, but you've basically described Second Life with your dream vision. It's got most of what you talk about... malls where people upload their art for people to buy and use, the ability to make literally anything if you're patient enough and skilled enough, it's got strong sexual content, and you can explore and even adventure in some places without any kind of level. You can make media, you can build a farm or a dungeon, or a town together, sell your content to other players however you like or give it away. What you want is the very theme the sandbox of Second Life is made behind. If you don't mind a steep learning curve, Hun, go play Second Life. I have nothing against tits and ass shots -- I mean look at my user pic, if you find the pic where it's from you'll see what I mean -- I love sexual content. You're not alone... but there are places and games out there that already kind of follow that philosophy. c:
