Creation Kit Lip Files

I'm making a small custom voiced NPC and the the dialog is working fine in game, but her mouth isn't moving while she's talking.

The sound file is a wave and clicking on generate Lip file in the Creation Kit has no effect, whether From Wave or From LTF is selected or not.

Should I convert the wave's to FUZ files or some other technique that I can use?

To generate a .lip file in the CK, in the dialogue window, make sure that the dialogue file is selected; the part where it has the voice file path. THEN click the generate button.

In my experience, however, the CK just throws an error when that button is clicked. Haven't had any success with generating .lip files.

Are you working from inside MO by chance? For me, I've found that I need to work outside MO when creating dialogue lines, and I haven't had a problem since doing so. Just remember to move everything outside the data folder when you're done, fuz each wav and corresponding lip file together, then move it back into MO.

Even if you're not using MO, I'd make sure the folders are named correctly, and the wav file you're trying to generate the lip file for has the identical name to what the CK gives it. It's a also important you have FonixData.cdf inside Data\Sound\Voice\Processing because without that, lip files will not generate.

Yeah, I'm working through MO.

Clicking on the generate isn't working. I'll try converting the sound files into FUZ and see if that works.

FonixData is where it's supposed to be, but I'll try copying it into my MO folder and see if that works too.

Since we're talking about the Creation Kit, does anyone know how to set a custom Bribe amount? I'm also attempting to have the NPC to require a specific amount of gold be paid.

I can do generic bribes with level based amounts of gold, but specific amounts isn't in Creation Kit that I can find.

Well, I've never done anything regarding bribes in the CK before, but since you're using MO I still recommend working outside of it when generating lip files if they're still not working. I usually get errors when generating lip files in the CK when I launch through MO. When I manually place the esp inside data folder, and the sound folder for the mod inside Data\Sound\Voice then launch the CK from the Skyrim folder (not through MO), I can generate lip files without any issues.

As it's already been said, you need to click on the voice type that will say the line, ensure the wav file is located at the specified location the CK shows and that the wav file name is identical to what the CK gives it, click the generate from wav option, then click generate lip button which should be enabled at this point.

What exactly is happening when you click generate lip? Are you getting errors, or does it appear to work but no lip files show up where they should be?

Also, I wouldn't convert the wav to fuz files until you have the corresponding lip file. I'm not sure if the CK can generate lip files from fuz files, but I don't know that for sure. Someone with more knowledge would probably know, I've always just used wav and it's worked fine for me.

I figured out the bribe thing, it's pretty funny :P

I'm not getting any errors, nothing happens at all when I try to generate a Lip file. I'll try running CK outside of MO and see if that helps.

Yeah, pulling the ESP and sound files outside MO worked exactly like it was supposed to.

Shame. I was really hoping there was a way to do it through MO. It was a pain learning how to run the script compiler through MO, was hoping I to avoid more hours of google searches for a solution.

Good news is that unlike the scripts folder -which is cluttered to hell and back with many scripts- the sound folder in Data is empty except for the converter, so pulling out my mod specific files is easy. So it's merely a mild annoyance.

Thank you for your help.
