Any decent tutorials for creating texture translucency?

I followed one I found from 2012 but it didn't work out too well for me. It made my textures completely invisible when I really want something more like sheer or lace so light shines through but you can still see the fabric.

Appreciate any links.

I was told to use GIMP

and then to add an "alpha particle" to the NIF using NIFskope

I failed and gave up :(

I'd like a decent tutorial too

Here's a link to a transparency guide:

You can get translucency by setting the opacity of an eraser brush at say, 40% and running it over an area of texture, then adding an niAlphaProperty to the nif as per the doc. For example one of the 'farmclothes' or wench dress, do a 40% opacity erase on the cloth part of the upper bodice but leave the structured lace lower part so that it appears that the cloth around the bust is light and gauzy but the corset is stiff.

Thanks this worked really well and actually rather easy once you get the hang of it!
