why would this cause a CTD?

I wanted to have a more female type body on khajis / argonian females, after searching the best ones I found were "grey cat and leopard unp/ (unpb compatable)" and "chameleon and lizard unp (unpb compatable)" both 2k textures of nexus (I have unpb)

both installed fine but both cause either a CTD onloading a game save file or the screen goes black after loading and again the game crashes.

if I uninstall the game works normally and I use nmm like it says to do, my gfx card is good enough for 2k textures as well :/

I've tried fnis'ing it and save cleaners but to no avail :/

any suggestions would be happly received!

Are you using a UNP body, mesh, texture already? While I never heard of this I do know that meshes won't look good if the body and textures are not for the same.

yea used diamonised unp then overwrite with unpb (blessed) and as im using both unp armour and unpb armour in game together without any issues from either is whats making my head ache -.-

plus it says its unp but unpb compatable :/

so replacing body textures shouldn't cause an issue like this

Does the mod use an ESP?  If this is the case then the ESP is probably borked.

The thing is that in order for your Texture Packs to cause a CTD well you were pretty much right there at the brink and this one file just put you over...It'd also mean your computer is struggling to render those textures.

Of course you have to think of this sort of thing cumulatively not just one piece but a sum of parts that leads up to the issue.

Normally installing a texture would never cause a CtD, but rather you'd notice that if the texture itself was borked then it'd just fail to render fully or at all.

If the combined textures were to cause the issue you would begin to notice that a good deal of stuff like surrounding landscape would not fully render or appear to be 1/2 texture size or less.

Bear in mind that script system does cause a strain on your FPS, I've read its papyrus tied to it, over at the Bethsoft Forum read a software engineer try to explain it in common terms but essentially uh it comes down to this some popular mods that attach scripts to NPC's/Creatures will have a direct impact on game performance (FPS) and can literally just crash your game up if it exceeds load perameters...(yes its confusing and difficult for even me to understand and worse there are no rock solid means to determine a limit to this due to the nature of different hardware and mods/software post development used to get around just that sort of issue).

So best guess

It contained an ESP that is borked

Your over your texture limit

Your combined sum of textures and scripted mods has pushed your set up too far.

Or uh you had a lot of scripted mods and were due to at some time to figure out the hard way that your over the limit...Your just reacting to the texture mod thinking its the problem when in fact it isn't the issue.

no esp's its just standard texture replacers

my pc's a amd phenom ii x4 965 processor ~3.4ghz with win7,64bit+8gb ram and an radion 7870 xt w/ 4gb ram, which should be good enough?

plus I was using beths HD pack + tamriel reloaded w/ 4k textures without any issues up untill a few days ago

hell I even tried using loot for the first time and it said all is fine :(

would a log show if its the case im at my texture limit?

btw thank you for responding.

Hmm, the thing about it is.

Its pretty well known that 4K textures are a bit beyond the reach of high performance gaming.

Uh I use the Tameriel Reloaded 2K pack (at least I hope I am) and outside world running with Realvision DOF/AMB O disabled in ENB pushing 60 fps.  But in Whiterun its all over about 30 is the lowest.  That's probably WR though.  You are talking about Paralax Textures right?  So those put an extra strain on the system as well.

Now as an Example of how Scripts heavy mods are tied to your FPS.

I was using More Nasty Critters, which is tied to Creature Framework.  When I removed the entire pluggin and cleared the scripts/form entries using a save cleaner my FPS in WR was at like 20 it jumped to 30.  There were other places were the issue could be seen to cause certain mods to spaz out a bit.

Example 2, same as above, when I went to Captured Dreams Workshop.  Normally with the above mod installed the display girls cannot stay in one assigned package they spaz out totally and move a whole lot.  But removed Creature Framework those girls stay as intended in the same package and in fact many other mods start to behave in a more timely manner.

Hardware Comparison.

Intel Xeon CPU w5580 (twin processors) @ 3.4 GHZ ( I know its higher than expected that is not over-clocked either)

EVGA SR-2 motherboard

12 GB RAM

M-4 Solid State Drive

Hitachi 1 Tera HDD

EVGA GTX 970 SSC edition

Alright, so uh I'm trying to say its a Beast.  Not the best out there but more than capable of performance.

So here is what your facing you have too many scripted mods and your pushing a very heavy texture load.  This matters.

Typically if your running an ENB like I am the best going suggestion around is to run 1K texture packs and this is too ensure high frame rates on beastly rigs that should satisfy the gamer.

People pushing much past that are either curious, overconfident, or they are actually just doing what is called "Screen Archery" meaning they intend on taking great snap shots of stuff and you can and will see a lot of very cool pics of Skyrim everywhere.  That doesn't mean that those game states are particularly bearable for gamers.

which is why I said 4k textures on tamriel reloaded worked perfect >.< I only removed them because some parts I didn't like >.<

I also tried enb once on my old gtx650 I cried and never tried it again due to how slow the game became >.< lol

only creature stuff im running creature wise is creature framework, hentai creatures, more nasty critters, sexlab nude creatures+db+dg >.< think I can remove hentai creatures without losing the creature rape feature I think?

anyway.. after a little break I tried it again (1 last time etc) and it all works -.- both khajit & argonian feminine textures are working properly >.< load/save working fine again.. go figure? lol

Can you find out if its conflicting with another UNP mod you have that alters either of those 2 races?

as for some reason I cant seem to cut and paste text here -.- I added a screenshot of everything that "could" or might alter/conflict.

but like I think I said on everyone of my other chars (I got 1 or 2 of each female race minus a argonian / khajit) I had no issues with what I got installed, its only with the newly created khajit / argonian female characters that caused the weird issue.

except for the unp/unpb body textures the khajit / argonian bodies where "normal" looking or normal as the diamonised / blessed did etc and nothing else as far as I know altered those body textures.

as an example on my first main I got all of the games default/dlc female companions with different costumes in my house again causing no issue.

which is why im even more confused now as its all working fine O_O but I'd still like to know to try and prevent that issue reoccurring and driving me insane lol

cheers again

note the items in the pic arnt that load / install order its how I made the list
