Which version of SexLab has the best expression?

Hi, all.

In my experience, SexLab 1.35 provided the best expression. However, I had to switch newer version because of CTD and compatibility. 

1.59 showed better expression than 1.59c in my opinion.  

I wonder which version of SexLab gave you the best experience for expression.

If so, then 1.60 with my custom tweaked expressions imported of course!

I have never even gotten them to work. Sometimes someone randomly makes an expression, but it happens literally once out of 200 times or so. Generally everyone just stares like a puppet.

If so, then 1.60 with my custom tweaked expressions imported of course! 

 

I also used your tweaked one in 1.59c and I was happy with it. Will give a shot in 1.60 when a stable version is launched.

Have you edited facial expression in Sexlab MCM? You can edit them there, or your pc will keep showing you her puppet expression. 

It worked automatically till 1.35, but it has been changed that user edit the expression from 1.50.

I tried it at one point, but nothing still happened. I think I haven't actually tried it in 1.60 so I have to try it again...

The problem in general with 1.59c for expressions is pretty simple:

 

they are selected based on calculations from sex stats of the actors, and between the way default stats get assigned to those actors and the actual math of the calculations you rarely will have a situation where SL decides to pick something over expression level 1 or 2.  Also default SL doesn't come with the full range of expressions for every emotion anyway, so you need to import an expression pack to get a lot of things into there in the first place.

 

Using something like SL Stats Manipulator to boost the stat values will bring the rest of the expressions into play, but you might get the opposite problem: everybody stuck on maximum expression level instead of minimum expression level.

 

tbh I don't fault Ashyl for the ideas behind the whole thing, but in practice the expression math turns out to be really hard to balance to produce values with interesting transitions and really easy to create a lot of static results.
