CTD and massive papyrus log

After trying to fix the issue myself since a few hours, I decided that it is time to ask for help.

The game is crashing after a few minutes of ingame play. I am still kind of new to modding so I maybe miss something important just because I dont have the knowledge which I should have if I use so many mods.

I do have a massive amount of mods installed (150+), most of them downloaded from LoversLab and also a lot of them adding new content like dungeons and compagnions. I took care to match all requirements needed for my mods and download all necessairy patches but maybe I missed something.

It might be possible that my CTD comes from too many mods but I want to check all other possibilities first.

Anyways, I am using Loot for the load order so this can hopefully be excluded.

I am also using Tes5Edit and deleted all empties and undeleted the other stuff (sorry, I forgot the word. Noob).

Some of my mods seem to have deleted NavMeshes that can not be fixed but I am a rookie and have no idea if that can cause the CTD.

It is highly possible that the crash is caused by one of the LoversLab mods which I installed recently since everything worked fine before, but I can not figure out, which one it could be because I also have no knowledge of analyzing papyrus log files.

So I would be very glad if someone with more experience could give me a hint of what is wrong (I guess it is more than one problem lol)

Finally my log file:

Papyrus.0.log

And my load order (exported from NMM):

You are using NMM which means all files are installed into the main game folder. This means that things can get messed up when you add or remove mods as the files might not be returned to proper state. MO doesn't allow this as it is all seperated. I am not advising you to transfer over to MO however with this testing and repair would be massivly easier. You could create a new profile and add the base mods then the others on top and test, test, test etc without any harm coming to your game install or our original saves.

However first things first.

  • Create a back up of everything you have. The entire game folder and saves.
  • Run TESedit (LOOT is good but I prefer TESedit just to be sure)
  • Verify cache of your game.
  • reinstall a fresh copy of SKSE (most current) over the one you have there.

Now you have a base that you know should be correct.

If nobody can give you info from the Papyrus report then you will likely have to do the fix the hard way by Returning back to a vanilla game and reinstalling the mods keeping them below 150. Basically trial and error based on your comments. deleted nave meshes shouldn't cause you to crash however if the records connected to those delted nave meshes are missing you will get a crash.

You may have reached the end of viability for your game install. You might need a fresh start. However you will have a backup of the original folder and saves so that it if can be fixed and you find out the problem you can restore your backup and fix the issues. However I believe the saves would be screwed up anyway (mods leaving carp in the mod) so you would have to start over anyway. Might be a good time to reinstall. ;). After all you still have the mods in NMM right? Just go back through and reinstall all the mods after cleaning up the game install.

Hi,

thank you for your fast reply :)

I was hoping to get around the uninstallation but I guess it is needed. Sadly I can not decide which mods to dismiss so I guess I just do it by trial and error, as you suggested xD

Anyways, I found out how to use a crashdump analysis even if I don't understand a single word of the outcome but maybe someone else does.

Maybe this could prevent the full uninstallation process.

Edit: I remember that I installed hair mods with physics recently and have read in the forums that some CTDs are caused by skeleton errors?

If you can wait until someone that can properly view the papyrus log. I don't have problems that require papyrus logs so I don't have the slightest clue on what is going on. There are some suggestions in the tech support thread for Sexlab / Skyrim that pertain to info needed for help and support. Make sure you have all that info in the thread so that when someone does come they have everything they need to look over.

If I was having your problem (I use MO) I would create a new profile (clean) and activate the base mods like patches, then some beauty mods like better textures and weather etc (after making sure I had no conflicts ) and the move to the core mods I need. Test and test again with different profiles. I had to do this once before and found a problem with a few mods. My original mod was safe. Unfortunately I had to roll back a number of levels to when I installed one of the mods as it was effecting my saves. Sad. However from thatpoint on I was good to go.

With NMM (the brief time I used it with Skyrim before using MO) I would just dump the Data folder. RE-verify the cache, come back when done and click on the mods in order I wanted them reinstalled form NMM and start the game. Did the same using FOMM as well. So long as you have the NMM safe and the mods downloaded. (current versions) you can restart in just a couple of hours instead of days. IN fact I would do a play though. Kill the data folder verify cache (reinstall) and run my mods for that time and be up and running for each play though. pretty easy. I used to have prefix numbers on the mods (order of install ) which covered the overwritten mods in the order that I needed them to be installed in. (FOMM not NMM) Worked quite well.

I think I will wait until tomorrow and hope that somebody finds a hint in the papyrus log or the crash analysis.

One or two years ago I had a similar problem with CTDs and had to go the hard way with testing every mod ingame by trial and error and that cost me a lot of nerves.

I am just glad that I don't have any important save files so I don't care wether or not they get corrupted.

So I do not have to reinstall skyrim completely and only verify the game cache? Or did I misunderstand you. I am sorry for the confusion but it is late at night here and my english could be better too haha

And which playtime for testing purposes would you suggest to make sure that no CTD appears? I guess a few minutes should be enough?

You only really have to restore the Skyrim folder back to what it was. Loose files scripts and such need to go along with any mods you had. If you understand all the files that came with the game or use a program to remove those (not sure how good those are ) or you can just delete the folder and re verify cache again. In the end you would have a clean data folder to start with.

There is no set testing time. Some can find the issue within minutes others not until you reach some high level to realize there is a conflict. It is better to keep it light on the load order and even better try to not use mods that conflict or effect the same sections of the game unless you have to .
