Problem with Samsung

Did you know that Samsung support will not give you a straight answer I got two devices from them and both still have kitkat I read on there site that they are getting lollipop in Q2 or Q3 it is almost end of Q3 and still nothing I ask Samsung and got the run around on it. I know both Samsung Galaxy Tab 4.70 and Galaxy Avant are low end devices. With the Stage Fright out there and no update to fix it.

At the moment there's not many software the explicitly needs Android 5.x.x, meaning there are still versions for Android 4.x.x for most apps.
But if you want to root your device, use Chainfires AutoRoot. it does not replace the original bootloader or change your OS.

My old S2 uses CWM and CyanogenMod Nightly Build, while my Note 4 uses the stock bootloader (will change soon) and the stock Android.

The OS will very likely stay stock, as i don't want to loose the SPen support and the SPen app for CM is still rather limited.

 

You can use 3C Toolbox or SD Maid to disable/freeze all components (like Knox) that you don't want. The root will make it possible.

This frees quite a few resources, speeding up your devices and saving battery.

 

But if you still want the more resources hogging Android 5, you can always flash CWM/TWR and an Android of your choice, like CM.
