Nichoice Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 There was a mod for FNV which allowed for a certain weapon or armor to be your signature item thus adding various bonuses. I always roleplay my characters in Skyrim and thus having the option to make certain items signature appeals to me greatly! I have yet to find anything like that, nor do I have any idea how it should be implemented. So I would like some advice or feedback from everyone here. 1. Weapon kills No idea whether there is actually a counter for weapon kills in-game with a specific weapon, and were I to enchant such weapon would the count reset? And if not, what would be the alternative? 2. Armor Absolutely no idea, how many times i get hit? Amount of time wearing armor? Similar to how wayfarer works in Skyre? Or Heavy Armor and Light Armor in Skyre whereby you gain exp as you travel long distances while wearing them? 3. Bonuses By way of Perks? Which might clutter up the screen By way of Enchantments? Then I would not be able to apply other enchantments Any other alternatives? 4. Renaming the item XXXX's [iNSERT WEAPON/ARMOR NAME] ??????? 5. What bonuses I use Skyre, and I know there are tonnes of other overhauls out there. So I don't want vanilla +10% More Damage with Greatswords etc. though bonuses should remain simple and practical like increase weapon range? weapon cleave damage?
Akzyra Posted August 14, 2015 Posted August 14, 2015 There is a counter of some kind. See this weapon. Armor: Maybe (ab)use the system from the bow in some form. Bonus: Maybe Magic effects applied when using the armor/weapon. What effect? Maybe swing speed/DMG because you are used to the weapon. More block time/faster walking with the armor (armor just affects stamina use in vanilla I think, so no real idea here), Armor points boost, I don't know a thing about scripts, but it is a neat idea. Hope it gets attention.
restrictive Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 Funny, it was just today that I have been playing FNV and got annoyed at the Signature Stuff for being overpowered (like Armor Stealth 3 - always invisible when sneaking) Don't fall into that trap, prettyplease. A part of the "signature" thing is in Vanilla Skyrim already - You have the smithing upgrades that makes your stuff more efficient than everybody elses. Only currently it is broken, because "workbenched and grindstoned" is the effective baseline for all stuff. When was the last time you used a sword straight from the factory? The other issue that I see would be, that a signature system would reinforce the tendency to mindlessly grind smithing 100, so you can signaturise your dragon/daedric stuff at the earliest convenience. Don't let yourself be discouraged though, that is just me killing the buddha I found on the road. Maybe I can give you a different direction to go in. Real word weapons tend to come in similar weights by class. Once the roman gladius design was mature it stayed that way. Same thing for Warhammers, Katanas and so on. Too little weight weakens the weapon, too much slows it down. You already know there this is going - why the f*** would I forge one handed swords in a range from 9 to 19 units? No matter which way you look at it, at least one of the extremes can not be an effective weapon. Shortcut to my proposition: Prepare the ground by equalising the weapons some. Weightwise and damagewwise. An axe is an axe is an axe. Then you have breathing room for personal improvements: Your favorite axe with a custom handle of yew wood, half an inch longer than the stock model, because that is the optimum to your arm, a hole in the blade to take away a half ounce of headweight and a winding of horker leather straps for that perfect grip. But this would be a compatibility monster. Ah, well. You said to brainstorm
asian_girls_only Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 There is a mod that was recently released and added, a "signature weapons" perk tree along with enhancements via smithing. I gather you could get some inspiration from this mod but you'd have talk to the mod author if you plan on incorporating some of his ideas (he's pretty active on /r/skyrimmods on reddit). Righto, forgot to link the mod I was talking about. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67659/?
