sophiextime Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Hi. My Game is heavily modded but i have used NMM and LOOT and so far no warnings or errors. The game runs fine , all MOD menus show in the MCM and the game is running smoothly with them working. its not laggy or graphically challenged, i have a powerful PC. But i have found randomly it will freeze up. It doesn't CTD to desktop, but just freezes the game screen. I cant get Task Manager to close Skyrim as it says ' Skyrim is not responding'. I try by holding Ctrl + Alt+ Delete and it gives me the option to use Task Manager but the attempt always fails. The only thing it lets me do is restart my PC . I dont like having to constantly restart my PC every time Skyrim locks up. Is there any tool i can use that stops a game freeze? Any help or advice please Sophie x
Anatriax Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Heya If you would, provide us with a full mod list (not plugins/load order. A full list of the mods you use.), load order (so we can see if the plugins are loading in the correct order), System Specs, skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini settings, If you use ENB we'll need enblocal.ini settings, as well as any papyrus logs that you have. Thanks
sophiextime Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 Sure. i dont use ENB as i wanted to save on performance, even though my PC is good. i will post a Load order that is set by my LOOT thankyou for responding.
sidfu Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 sounds like 2 things mod conflict since u sue NMM instead of MO u would have to find which mod got overwritten that shouldnt. the other is that u probaly freezing cause of heavy script load when game goes to auto save. try disablling all teh auto saves and timed saves and use manual saves to see if that works. i had a similar problem like that where game would freeze after a hour or so and just disabling the games auto save features fixed it. i use http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34842/? also if u use that make sure to havae it use incremental saves. ive noticed a autosave can take up to 40 sec later as a incremental save takes less time.

No errors or warnings on LOOT. 132 Mods too many? any there someone can recommend i dont need? i love immersion so as you may see lots are immersion mods. my game does autosave when i go through doors in skyrim. i not very sure if it does it out and about the wild. How do i turn off auto-save? i often save it myself manually through the main menu options of F4 and then load with F9. I can play the game for a few hours, sometimes more. but the timing of game freezes seems random and mostly when i am running on my horse or moving quickly. earlier my PC was running down a road and a deer bolted across her path and the game froze. Or sometimes i see it happens when a dense area like a city or forest rezzes in. As if the game has a brianfart and freezes up trying to load something.

Anatriax Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Swap Climates of Tamriel for Pure Weather. CoT is very script heavy, and people have reported significant performance increases by switching to Pure Weather. Being Female is known to be buggy.Try Relighting Skyrim instead of ELFX. Relighting Skyrim has a scriptless option. Install that to reduce the amount of scripts running. There are some other options that I would put your way, but you use NMM, and unfortunately those options are much more complex than they need to be, with said mod manager. If you used Mod Organizer, it would be much easier to walk you through the process of reducing your load order (by at least 3).
sophiextime Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 i will try Pure Weather for sure. its weird cuz i dont get CTD's. or any game lag or graphical issues. just randomly the game just freezes and i cant do anything apart from restart my PC. i cant even get to desktop Also i have so many COT Patches. so...to swap MODS do i just uninstall the ones i get rid of on NMM and install the new ones like Pure Weather? and is my MOD list too heavy or normal for a keen modding gamer?
Anatriax Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 As far as uninstalling mods from NMM? Well ... lets just say that's why I switched from NMM to MO about a year ago, and have no intentions of ever going back. Ever. Never. As far as too heavy goes? You're nowhere near the .esp/.esm limit of 255. Some of us here on LL have had as many as 500 .esp/.esm files (thanks to xEdit Merge Plugins Script), so no. Your load order is actually about average, if not a little below. I do highly suggest nuking your Skyrim install, and switching to Mod Organizer. I feel that if you like immersion, my guide is a good place for you to start, then you can SLOWLY start adding new mods to that setup. I basically hold your hand through the entire process of installing mods via Mod Organizer in my guide So it should be an easy experience, and by the time it's all done you will have intermediate knowledge of how MO works, and it's features.
sophiextime Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 i have seriously considered using MO. i have a few questions first. as everything is installed vis NMM for me, is it easy to switch to MO without having to reinstall everything and also i dont wish to loose my current chracter or saved game? and what do you mean by Skyrim Install. do i just turn off all my MODS in NMM and then install MO and activate them via that, without loosing my current player and her progression? I cant do it right now as i have rl stuff to get done but i am very seriously looking to do it tomorow asap and would so so appreciate your help.
Anatriax Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 First statement: Once you learn MO, you'll never go back to anything else. First question: Yes, you will most likely lose your current character and any progress. Good news? Your game will be more stable, and you can easily catch back up without the frustrations of your game freezing or issues being caused Second question: No. You have to totally uninstall Skyrim, and reinstall it. This is to ensure that there are no remnants of mods left over, whatsoever. Last statement: I'm a stay at home mom. I'm here to help <3
sophiextime Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 hehe okies. what about my MODS? i dont have to search for them all again do i? will i be able to just use MO to install the winzip files i have? i got them all on a memory stick and a handful of MODS are via the steam workshop. only a couple i had to manually install via going through the folders and not NMM. i can handle restarting a new game and reinstalling it all. i guess if i make sure all mods are on a memory-stick ( zipfiles) and then delete everything. i will keep LOOT? or is that incorporated in MO? and Tes5edit? i can keep that? and thank you so much. i will dedicate tomorrow to doing it. i am in the UK so right now its like...18:51. i wil be here in my mid morning ( 10am ish)
Anatriax Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Haha, when you wake up just have a look through my guide. I can say that for MOST of your mods it's going to be a good idea to redownload them, to get the most recent versions. Good news: You can hook MO to download Nexus links, just like NMM.
sethwarner08 Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Just to put things into perspective, i have about 350 MODS in all and 225 active plugins, i have a stable game for the most and i wholeheartedly have MO to thank along with a few experienced modders. For the rest, follow Anatriax's consult closely.
